Love the dog pad idea I'm going to use that in the future.

Regarding the cas/key/dme. "It's How it's done". Once they are all sync'd they will (usually) stay so power off, so they can be shipped and installed and work without reprogramming. It's why EWS/key/DME typically sold as a set since making any of the three play nice with any of the other two is 9/10 difficult even when possible.

Yes, I get the dme/CAS alignment/sync. My no start condition was caused by scr inefficiency countdown limit being reached (200 miles). I reset it once but was sold counterfeit NOX sensors that used the last 50 miles up on the conditioning drive and the x5 did not reset the codes and so, locked itself in no start. I had to send everything off so they could unlock the DDE. I tried updating the modules with istap and my ICOM but all that did was being everything up to the latest integration level but put the scr no start back into it after completion. :dunno:

As for the puppy pads. They are actually prevail medical pads. I order them in bulk cheaply on eBay. Amazing for working on anything and keeping the garage floor clean. Combined with a layer of cardboard underneath, works a treat. My garage floor has been saved many a large oil or trans fluid stain.

Prepping this thing for sale. Should be a pretty nice example when done. Going to enjoy driving it around while waiting for it to sell.

Waiting on new headlight lenses, the one I previously replaced had a blemish in the plastic and looked terrible when the lights were on compared to the new one. Also got the beast taped up in prep for paint correction and ceramic coating. Going to use Cquartz UK 3.0 which should get here Thurs.

While waiting for all that to get here I figured I'd refinish the kidneys. Coming out pretty good.

Getting closer to this thing being back on the road and on the market. Would love to keep it but we don't need two diesel X5s... or 6 vehicles in total either. :D

Completed:
  • New headlight lenses installed
  • Cleaned the front wheel wells and reinstalled new rivets for the flares
  • Cleaned most areas while I had different things apart
  • Ordered and replaced a couple missing under chassis plastics
  • Repaired a broken aftermarket LED module installed in the lower bumper
  • Polished the whole truck (wish I'd gone with a more aggressive polish though)
  • Carpro Cquartz UK 3.0 ceramic coated and Reloaded the whole truck

Still have to do an oil change and get an alignment... then after putting a few hundred miles on it to make sure everything is good (and to enjoy the fruits of my labor) I'll list it.

Sold my Chevy Colorado diesel and got my parent's hand-me-down X6. It's still really nice for being a 2011!

Cleaned it up today and installed 2021 navigation maps. Will be a good backup when I don't want to use my phone

I put in my most common addresses and regularly use the car navigation. Even though I have the best phone holder possible.

Looks factory! Holds phone with magnet and also charges.

What have you done to your E70 today?

What I did though; noticed a scraping sound that reminded me of when rust got between my rotor and dust shield on my e53, but it was more consistent and then finally yesterday when driving near a concrete wall I noticed the sound would change at bumps and I would hear a metallic slap.

Something I've fixed many times on other cars so I knew what to look for: bolt holes rusted though on a dust shield allowing it to slap three rotor.

To my surprise: not quite the case.

The e70 front dust shield is made of aluminum no rust but it is made of multiple parts and the "daughter part" broke free from the 8 or so spot welds and was sliding on the rotor for a few months.

I tried to figure out a way to press fit it where it would hold bending the tabs but the rotor was in the way. A proper fix will be some pop rivets. It appears it's designed to suck air in to chill the rotor so it's worth the effort to fix.

It's so nice not hearing the constant scraping that I was worried was brakes related.

@andrewwynn, that holds phone vertically, over bumps? What is it, please?

Yep! On longer road trips I've done before, I would throw the destination onto the Chevy's navigation instead of on Android Auto just to remind me of the exit #.

Today I installed my V1 mirror tap hardwire and some blind spot mirrors so I can see better when towing. Ceramic tint this weekend and I hope I don't get the itch to mod it any further.

I combined two phone mounts.

LLKUANG 360-Degree Rotary Cell... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JLL2GVG

That's the base: it comes with a small magnetic mount that is meant to work with a metal sticker you'd put on your phone.

I combined that magnetic ring with a different charging base that works with any iphone ≥ 12.

Magenetic Wireless Car Charger 15W for iPhone 13/13 Pro/13 Pro Max/13 Mini/12/12 Pro/ 12 Pro Max/12 Mini,Fast Charging Dashboard Air Vent Car Mount Compatible with MagSafe Cases https://a.co/d/902TP0p

It would probably fall off in an accident but it has no problem with bumps. Haven't gone off road yet.

I used PC-11 to combine the two. The magnetic swivel and magnetic charging disc. I added a piece of thumb from a nitrile glove for added friction on the swivel so it stays where I put it.

The only drawback to the setup is the phone blocks a couple things: temp of the passenger seat, AC status and the two buttons directly behind it. (hazard and central lock). You can easily still access them but when guiding a passenger to unlock the doors you have to tell them behind the phone between the vents.
