2 weeks ago I swapped in a new Nissans radiator. Had to convert to the newer style oil cooler hose that bypasses the radiator. Not bad at $300 in with coolant, hose, and lifetime Fcp warranted radiator.
Swapped rear brake pads. Wear sensor was touching the rotor and made a squeak when going in reverse. Also shorted the two wires on the sensor since it was brittle and wire broke off the sensor end. $20 meyle pads. I can feel the stronger rear bite after a week of break-in. |

Diagnosed recent failure of all comfort access. Fuse blown. Hopefully related to CA handle that failed a while ago. Won't replace fuse until failed handle replaced (it blew for a reason).
Ordered new rear left comfort access handle from dealers. Ordered new rear right soft close latch mechanism from Amazon (Chinese part 1/4 price of original). Knew these features would eventually become expensive problems when I found the car - but all other spec etc was as desired. Will actively try to avoid them on future purchases. |
Installed my Android screen.
(a little blurry sorry) https://i.imgur.com/q61sdmk.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/SR8D4kP.jpg?1 It took WAY longer than what I expected and wanted. My biggest issue was getting the radio unit back in flush. I just could not get it. Finally, after a few hours, Got the radio to sit flush. Then had a "NO SIGNAL" screen. GREAT. Had to remove and re-check my wiring and sure enough I hadn't put the main radio harness all the way into the radio, it wasn't clicked in. Then took some time to re-install the radio and again had issues but was able to get it in much faster. 4x4Shop's videos, online instructions and the many people who have posted DIY's on the forum helped a TON. Aside from that, I'm really liking it so far. I messed around with both native audio and bluetooth/AUX. They both sounded normal and I was looking for issues and could not find any. I also decided to get a dedicated 4G wifi hotspot, Mifi 8000. Now the specs; 4x4Shop Android unit 10.25" Qualcomm snapdragon Android 10 - 4G RAM + 64G ROM (8 core) 1920x720 LG display with Blue anti-glare |
Had the brake fluid flushed and belts/pulleys/tensioner replaced. The belt service on this truck is not cheap, but the power steering at low speeds is much smoother now. I also installed LED reverse lights. Next up will be to change the spark plugs.
