Got the rear brakes cleaned and painted. Well worth the effort, most of which was spent on cleaning up the parts and prepping for paint. Also, forgot to post a pic of the fixed steering wheel buttons in the previous post.

Just before doing the rear brakes I also replaced a coolant vent hose, #5 in the diagram.

Whats the brush you have on de drillmachine ?

The one in the pic is a nylon wire wheel brush. I also used a steel one and a Polycarbide Abrasive Wheel. The steel works well for the initial layer, but the nylon does a better job at 'cleaning' the metal.

Did you paint with spray or brush or both?

Also: you left on the car the piston part so didn't have to bresk the seal to the fluid?

Used spray. All brush on product I found required a significantly longer dry time. And yes, I didn't want to bleed the brakes and deal with that extra step, so I left the calipers attached.

I just used some spare jack stands, an old jack handle and some wire to support the caliper while it was being painted.

I'm quite sure many or you have the same issue I had since I bought my e70. The passenger door pull is self destructing do to a poor choice of material. I just ordered it but the reviews speak for themselves.

I took my car to the dealer today, to get a free renewal :2thumbs:of the airbags steeringwheel and passenger. At the end of the day i left in a Mini :dunno:

I need some stuf out of the X5 India’s, so I could take a small peak :drama: the where with two guy’s and a iPad, buzzy to take the whole car apart, to get acces at the passengers airbag.

The compleet dash was empty, the middel console was empty, the were trying to get the big thing between the Seat out of the car to get room for removing the dash I guess.

I think they where not very happy to do a job like this for free.

Hope the car is ready Tomorrow, I will check everyting good for problems.

Still no car today, the dealer gave me a call, after a day working it’s still not ready. They hope it will be Tomorrow afternoon.

And hé sad, the next X5 is waiting on the parking lot!

Got my X5 back finaly, they had a 20 hour job to replace both airbags!

No navi update, the system would not update. A firmware update could help, but there is a big risk that the system would crash, then a new part is needed cost about 2000 euro’s.

So for now I let it bee, and will try something else.
