My 2005 X5 Aftermarket Radio Install Thread

So after attempting to put 1.5.2 back in without reactivating my DRLs, I went back to the 1.5.4 and same thing. In frustration I accepted the upgrade again and got a screen on startup asking me what model (good I thought) and so I checked the E53 button.

Software fires up and is unlocked OBC screen shows data but units were off. I try to go into "Settings" and it crashes "Unfortunately, BMW-IBUS has stopped."

Checked coding and it reads and writes values and confirms success but still no DRL return.







The latest update appears to be 1.5.5.2.

Crowz, let me know if you have any ideas with Deutschland I've emailed them with the issue and will see what they have to say.

Also, does anyone know what those wrenches mean in my Android screen? And the triangle with ! in it?

The wrenches and exclamation point things can be seen by touching that section of the screen and dragging it downward.

To switch versions be sure to uninstall whatever version is installed before doing a new version. Also you did the restore BEFORE you tried switching versions right? It would of had to store what was there before the coding in a file and might of lost that if you switch versions.

Yes, I did the restore before I tried switching versions, all to no avail. I will try again this morning before the whole FamDamily gets here.

I will try pulling down on those icons. I only pressed them and got no response with pressing.

Still waiting for a response from Germany to my email for support.

Try this too. Press and hold the power button while the radio is running till it powers completely off. Then press the volume knob again to turn it back on. That's a cold boot. See if it behaves differently then. Also you can try switching usb ports for the ibus connector.

OK, I got a clean install of 1.5.4 put into the Eonon GA6166 and have recovered/restored my DRL coding at 40%.

In OBC Screen:

Coolant is in *F

Range is miles

Fuel Remaining appears to be in gallons (19 showing and I'm nearly a full tank)

Consumption #1 and #2 are showing l/100km

Mileage is showing miles as units but displaying the km value

The "settings" screen does not have a "units" option screen as did 1.5.5.2 so I guess I will take what this version is giving me for now until a new version is shaken out by the developer.

Next will be the HU removal to access the blue NAV plug to make the USB stick connections more permanent. Will tackle that on Friday.

I’ve had similar “oddities” with the app. The fact that I didn’t have to relocate my navigation unit to the trunk is enough for me to love it forever. Everything else is just icing on my cake to me.

I also noticed one of my radios usb inputs isn’t as “tight” as the other & the Ibus usb stick doesn’t work as well in it. Check that out.

Despite the apps quirks, I’m happy to have recovered the correct date and time and some Coding for DUMMIES functionality as well as some of the other temp and fuel display features.
