^Agreed. Probably quicker.

Plus, easier for clarity. Plug 20, white wire, and blue wire 3 times in a paragraph will confuse most without reading it 10 times. I know it would/does me.

Based on having nav, do I understand correctly that I need to reconnect the long harness that goes from the Seicane to the original harness in the rear?

Yessir. The harness that originally connected to the head unit in the battery/electronics tray needs to run all the way up front to the new Seicane unit. They should have provided, or sold you separately, an extension harness for this purpose.

The reason for this (as I understand it) is that the Nav unit in the E53 is really just a display unit (and tape deck) for the actual radio in the trunk.

Yep its just a remote monitor for the radio in the back.

The long harness is back in place. I reconnected the trigger wire that was used with the old system. It also triggers the amp making it unecessary to connect a wire to connection 20. Current status is that Seicane unit comes on. Amp is triggered. No sound. To check for sound I turned the volume way up and set to AM and listen for static because the original unit was not working on FM.

My guess is there is nothing in settings that may be the problem? What next?
