Hmm, what's up with all these volume measurements? There are some very different numbers here. Where are we on that?

For those asking about ported boxes, the general idea is that a sealed box gives more accurate bass, but requires more power and a ported box can get louder with less power.

In fact, many very super high quality home speakers are ported. I think it just requires a lot of testing and science to get it just right. The generic ports and related calculations offered for do-it-yourself installations are only ball-park figures. So, stay with sealed boxes.

My Alpine 350 series amp fits along-side the factory amp, but the nav module thing and the bracket have to be relocated, and a couple of the studs coming off the OEM amp retaining box have to be removed. This allows that big plastic block that holds up the floor board to remain.

I did cut away a bit of that block and mounted the amp control-side up so I just remove the side cover and the gain, etc controls are easy to access and adjust.

Funny story about bass: we had a totally deaf employee, deaf from birth. We got a 300ZX (I think it was) that had the optional bass in the seats system so that you would feel the bass as well as hear it. Needless to say, he really enjoyed that car.

Ok, I think I got everything together...
Still need to cover the box in some material to prevent the vibrations but I will do that after I connect everything.

i lied

I should have checked, but i actually used Dib's box design for my 10" - http://www.xoutpost.com/bsws-mobile-e...ght=box+design . I think I contacted zerochief so much I assumed it was him.

The design used was flawless, fit nice and snug and sounds great - THANK YOU!

Essam (famous maker of "Essam Box" )...

which MTX amp can i use for this project? the reason i asked is my close friend works for a company that distributes MTX products, might get it cheaper from him...

Well Essam and Carlgo:
Just got back from a top notch audio installer and he said that he does modify these types of BMW OEM subwoofer box material, (fiberglass/plastic?) with wood.....but, the shape and contours of this OEM subwoofer box makes the decision to retrofit it with our 10" Pioneer, 'too close to call - there just may not be enough offset room for the necessary 9-3/8" diameter cut.! It can be done with a 8" subwooferr, though!

So there it is!

I'll be trying to add more volume to Essam's design and incorporate it with the BSW subwoofer box design in order to get as close as possible to that sweet optimum spot of 12.7 liters....
