It sounds pretty decent with the current settings. But, I think it needs some tweaking on the audio side.
There will be a lot of parameters to play with at the headunit and on the amp ... take your time, reaching the optimum performance can take weeks of listening.

Please post pics of the whole setup

Now i tweaked the outputs a little (Enabled high pass filter for all the speakers to filter out low freq and set the low pass freq for the sub)

It sounds even better. I will try to get some pcitures tomorrow during whatever little daylight we get here in cleveland.

Yes, that's what I have. That box has (2) 5" woofers in it......had it had (1) 10" woofer, I would have put the Pioneer woofer into it in a heartbeat.

The good news is that I got your box to fit!!

kudos again to you, Carlgo and everyone else's input that was crucial in my progress

I had to slightly modify a few of the dimensions: I changed the 28cm to 29cm, 6cm to 7.5cm and (I was trying to get to the 'optimum volume' specification), the 13.5cm to 4-3/4". Interior volume isn't accurately determined by the interior measurements of 2 interior sections? My exterior dimensions are: Top section - 26cm X 12.5cm X 28cm. Bottom section - 29cm X 8.4cm X 24cm. It's a nice snug fit! Now I only have to apply the interior lining, (is this still the consensus?) and then apply the sealant and screws and I'll be another success statistic!!

A tip for future 1st time builders, I used 1-1/4" screws - I not sure if 1" would be more appropriate(?)

Next steps to tackle:

Amp location:

With the OEM amp, Nav and CD disc units taking up most of the storage compartment, I'm now trying to determine how to squeeze the Alpine M350 amp in there, too, or possibly put it in the vacant "TV tuner module' cavity next to the radio module in the battery compartment.......I'd hate to have to leave it in the open cargo bay.

Exterior box covering:

To paint it or carpet the front exposed face....

The cargo hatch door (in order of my preference):

(1) To be able to remove the plastic backing (leaving the fabric front intact) to permit the sound to travel more freely.

(2) Cut a hole in the hatch door and install a speaker grille

(3) Leave it as it is

I'll keep everyone posted.

Wow this thread has really taken off. I was debating whether to go with JL Stealthbox or BSW subwoofer and now I see this. I am very interested in how this sounds to the other members that have installed it.

I am now seriously considering this option. Since I have never done this before I think I should try doing it with cardboard first.

Please post pictures!!!!

I guess with some modification to the face of the OEM box you can fit the 10" sub ... just cut the face and try to put some wood instead

It is too late anyway

Don't forget that the wiring is different for the DSP equipped cars. I already told you what to do on a PM

Based on the above, and after taking 2cm for MDF thickness (in average) you have roughly 10.35 litres (0.365 cu. ft.) which is great

Yes I have read your comments, I would like to here from the others that have it installed. Everyone has a different opinion on what sounds good and what doesn't. For example almost everyone loves BSW stage 1 but you didn't as you returned most of the speakers you purchased from them.
