You will need to make a custom image with the correct mods mate.

you need

1: UK with alert mode
2: USA with no mod (but as english voice)
2: Ger, no mod (but as english voice)

I'll PM you my personal version of OS (but without the navboot file), it has a working version of the languages above, just put your navboot and save and install.

V32patched for german mk4

Hi,

I know there was a german site driven by the user "rubin" containing a lot of information/links for patching the mk4.

does anybody here know whether there is a page available where one can find the information from that site? Or at least the explanation in order to patch my new german mk4?

I have an old Version of a patched V32 disk but I'm aware there were some improvements made by rubin.

I already read the first 50 pages of this thread but I'm missing such a compact site with all necessary informations.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Andreas

Hi to all,

I have mk3 with Italian language(OBC menu) i want to change it to US.

I found only this :

To hack an OS to make your own languages:
1. Get and install NavTweak
2. Decide what language you will change, eg EN to PL
3. Browse the OS CD image to \Mk3\0116\BMWC01S\app_sw, open usw_load , go to the Strings tab and extract the EN language text strings by clicking Export (tip:0116 = your hardware version v1.16, check with your nav that it is the right hardware version)
4. Translate all EN strings to PL strings at your leisure
5. Load the PL strings back into the usw_load file by using NavTweak Strings Import, and put the usw_load file back into the image
6. Rename the PL voice to the same name as the EN voice file (e_f.csf) (in langMk3\0501 directory)

Do I have other options or i need to export strings rename it and then import it again?
Do I need to change already renamed string to EN or i can leave it IT.

I don't have BUS cable i need to hack the OS
On my OBC i can change only 2 languages IT and DE.

Greetings

Correct, but he had to close the site down.

Yes, this site, search for "poison"

Modding the mk3/mk4 is a very complex issue mate, skipping to the end does not help, read the poison thread and digest all the problems that other people had, even with a README, that is still no guarantee that you wont have problems.

HTH

P.S welcome to the forums.

P.S.S, this thread is for nightmode mods mate not poison mods, I'm happy to help, but try and find the right thread (or start a new one), if you dont have a nightmode problem.

Ok, you can do it that way...the problem with this is, if you have OEM phone and TV then you get the original language (as the tv and phone) have there own language files and do not use the nav language setup files.

Export the whole EN language file to txt, edit the top 2 entrys (from ENG to IT), then reimport.

However I would, use navcoder to recode your mk3 mate, its a whole lot easier than doing it this way, all you need is a laptop, navcoder, an i-bus interface and an OS disc.

you will need to keep the primary language tag at the top of the file (that you import), but you can change IT to EN for the menu tag.

You can buy one for less than 10Euros or make one for less the 2E.

It's easier with the cable, doing it via the OS hack is not a 100% solution. good luck.

As a new member first would like to say Hi to everyone.
"ccfj1" could you tell me what I did wrong couse I don't have speed cam warning. All update did go OK without any problems. There is additional line in menu "sped cam" (and it is as "on") but during first drive I passed few cams and nothing was showing on the map and no sound warning either. Is it problem with the map or software update. (I have your update "v31_Night_all_mods_1010"). If it is map problem can you give me link to right map which include UK with speed cams. My version right now is 4-1/01
I noticed that I can't turn on "showing icons".

You need to modify your map disc as well mate, the alert mod is a 2 stage mod, you have done stage 1 but not stage 2, read the poison thread to know how to do this.

BTW AFAIK there is no map download for this.

"ccfj1" am I right assuming that your software (v31_Night_all_mods_1010) already has step A,B,C,D, from "poison thread"??? I mean A-OS Software modification, B-Voice modification,C-Force SW upgrade, D-Force Voice upgrade?? It has speedcam warning working!! In that case I need just amend map adding personal POI step E.
