Your customer service has been stellar, but I am not sure how far I am willing to go with this. I am a patient and understanding consumer, but I am not ready to make a special trip North for this.

I suppose it is completely possible that I have received a second bad unit. The replacement fixed my first problem right away, but unfortunately has replaced it with another problem. I was actually glad to hear that someone else was experiencing the same thing.

By the way, the car is a 2005 4.8is and this is the only modification to the vihicle whatsoever. They did put a new TCU in last week at the dealer under a Technical Service Bulletin, but I do not believe that would influence this.

Tom, I am open to suggestions, but would like to get this resolved ASAP. Perhaps we should get DICE to replace the whole kit, I will reinstall everything from the ground up, and we can cross our fingers...

Thoughts?

Tom

Another alternative would be to test your module on both our bench and vehicles to see if we get the same results. Keep in mind that we may experience different results, but will report what we find.

If there is another (closer) person having the same experience, we'll be more than happy to check it out.

Do you want me to send it to you? I will be out of starting tomorrow until Monday.

Let me know what to do.

Please PM me your first/last name so we can bench-test your module if you do not want to have the vehicle datalogged.

OK some new developments...

Now that i have some time in the car with the DICE kit installed...there are a couple other odd things I notice.

When I make a handsfree call, sometimes the DICE will not display the track text until the next time I start the car. Once it even went to some terrible sounding clicking noise...every click on the volume would make a terrible noise and audio could not be heard. I had to switch to sirius to make it stop.

Anyone ever experience these things?

Tom...I am starting to think after some of the things I read on other forums that i am not the first to see some of these issues.

The forums are not a good indication of how the DICE performs, since people would only post when problems are noted. If you have a perfectly working kit - there's nothing to post. Also, the forums represent only a small percentage of kits that are out there, and there are many people using the kits 100% problem free.

I've emailed you instructions how to return the module and what I need from you so I can test the module myself on both our bench and personal vehicle to see if the same procedures can be replicated.

instructions received...

Thanks, I will get it out this afternoon or tomorrow.

Yes, I've experienced the same problem with an '05 X5 w/o NAV. Sometimes text works, sometimes it doesn't. Receiving a bluetooth handsfree call seems to knock out the text. I've also experienced that wierd clicking noise. I've tried selecting CD6 and then track 4 but it doesn't do any good.

I get the sense that this is a very buggy product.

This could be a firmware issue. Contact me at [email protected] and we'll troubleshoot. Also, NAV applications need to be on DISC6/TRACK6.

Tom...any news on the module I sent you...

The gent you just responded to seems to be seeing some similar events. Have you had a chance to bench test my unit?

Thanks,

Tom
