Firmware upgradeability

I live in Europe (Sweden) and are a bit concerned about the unability to upgrade firmware by the end user. To ship a unit back and forth to US will cost me a fortune. Is there any plans to make the DICE end user upgradeable, in case i run into some unique problems ???
Any firmware upgrades planned soon for me to concider before i order a kit (I love what I've seen sofar about the functionality)

Updating is performed through DICE only, if there is a feature or bug fix that is released - we can send you a replacement module and have you send back your old module so you are not without music.

I recently purchased a DICE kit for my 2002 BMW X5. I am attempting to install it myself and I had a few questions. First of all, which switches on the DICE module should be on and which should be off. There are four switches, and I am not sure which to activate. Second, I have sound coming from my radio, however I cannot get the ID3 text to appear, It usually shows ( vol: 68 or **) and I cannot change songs on both the radio module and my steering wheel. Any suggestions on what I can do would be greatly appreciated.

The VOL:68 means you're in AUX mode. Press the left arrow one time and press CD1 to exit that mode.

All DIP switches on the DICE module should be set to the OFF position.

I went back and turned off all the DIP switches. I do not get the vol 68 anymore, instead I get **. Also, I toggled through all the Cds, CD1, cD2, CD3, CD4, CD5, CD6 and I get the same song playing and no text and it does not change the song. By the way, I do not have nav or dsp. The module initalizes very quickly and begins right when I connect the ipod. The sound is clear. Any suggestions?

You've changed the configuration settings - the system needs to be reinitialized:

Here's what I recommend:

1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.

Afterwards, reactivate text by moving to DISC6/TRACK 3 or 4 for Business CD or DISC6/TRACK6 for Navigation. Be sure to return back to CD1 after text is selected.

Hold the iPod in your hand and check if the iPod is accessing the HDD whne you are selecting tracks. The iPod only has a 32mb buffer, so pressing the next track repeatedly could be causing the delay.

If not, I assume the module is defective and needs to be replaced.

this also happens to mine

Can you elaborate on the problem a bit more? For a faster reply, please contact me directly at [email protected]. I will also need to know the year of your X5 and what Generation iPod and iPod firmware you are running.
