Told you they are getting above themsleves. BMW needed dealers to sell there cars 10 years, now they are selling lots of cars they are picking and choosing there dealers. Don't worry the ACCC eye lids will get raised eventually.

You can see why audi are good to deal with because they won't your business, BMW think they already have your bussiness.

fj40 looks like a fun project mate, you'll have to post some pics of it in action when it's done

Yeh, I will, should be all finished over the Christmas break, going to drive it up to the BMW dealership at the end of Jan08 when I pick up my replacement X5 and show them what a real 4x4 looks like. haha

Hi
New to BMW and X5 only had it 2 weeks, just defected from a Disco 3 HSE!!!! Couple of questions

1. How do I find out what software our car is running and what is the most up to date version?
2. Why won't the Sat Nav allow full voice input, when we have voice commands, it stops at country and says you have to manually input address
3. Have a problem with the sun blinding us when it hits the lovely shiny bamboo on the glove box, does anyone else find this a problem?
4. Anyone noticed how hot the dash gets, we are not even very hot in Perth at the moment and the heat just radiates of it and a/c does not seem to be very efficient to combat it.
5. Have given it a good wash and polish and found the next day the wheels are covered in break dust again, is this normal
6. Radio reception around Perth gets a bit crackly at times

Thanks for listening

Hi all,

in addition to helping out "AussieX5" with his post, can any Aussie users also verify one other issue -

that is thagt "08" models can come with 6 "DVD" changer in the glove box, and that dvd changer, will allow you to play regular movie dvds.....

apparently this is allowable in overseas models, though only on the '08.

Thanks all

I got my x5 in September, and, when reading the owners manual it did refer to a dvd changer in the glove box,.... even though it was not an option when I ordered in April..... pisses me off..... even worse, why can't we watch TV on the full screen instead of one side only........

thanks Pelican,

though have you or anyone visually seen this, and have any users tried this (ie a movie DVD) sure it sucks, not being able to get it in motion, but still knowing you can view it whilst stationary is good enough for me....

yeah that TV not being full screen - sucks aye.

Also people dont forget AussieX5's post 2 posts ago, I didnt want to hijack it - but us Aussie Forum members gotta stick together

Thks for remembering me OZx5, everyone's obviously at the beach!!! Maybe after New Year I might get an answer.

As a foot note our BMW experience hit the wall last Friday, some miserable b******d put a key down the drivers and rear passenger doors whilst parked at a shopping centre. The gouge is so deep it has gone down to bare metal. Never suffered any damage to our previous cars, hope this is not something against BMW owners. 3 weeks old and looks like we will have to put it into the spray shop in the New Year.

Hope everyone has a great new year

cheers

1. No easy way... you can guess based on production date. Version 27.x.x usually. Also see if you get the option for rear camera and PDC split view.. this is featured in one of the latest releases.
2. Sorry No idea... the Sat Nav is pretty ordinary overall - powered by Whereis maps which I find are lacking!!
3. Haven't had this problem
4. It does get nice and hot although I haven't found it a problem when driving.. I use a sun screen when parked to keep it cool as well.
5. Yep lots of dust!!..it settles down a bit after 5000k
6. I find my radio reception in Sydney a bit rough at times.. did you get window tinting on your car ...? I have it and think that may be the cause as I am not sure it's a ceramic tint or not (rather than metallic).
