Hi OZ BM,

If you buy the V8 4.8 you still don't get Comfort seats because they have run out and you end up with Sports seats anyway. 20" wheels are an extra option cost as well.

The diesel gives you 500nm torque which is just as good as the V8, the diesel I believe is a far better buy.

I worked out that the 575klm a week I do I would use about 95 litres in the V8 @ $1.18 a litre = $112.00, whereas I am only using a $100.00 per fortnight in the diesel. Thats a saving of $62.00 per week, $3,224.00 per year. The current X5 I have is 3 and a half years old and has done 76,000k's, that works out to about a $8,194.00 saving in fuel cost's. It is also cheaper for rego & insurance as well.

So around $9,000 saving, better in my pocket. Also the resale on my diesel current diesel and also the new one is far better than a V8.

Also, WRT servicing, my E53 diesel only needs a service every 21,000 km or so according to the lights - I do about 800-1000km per week. Average consumption is 8.4l/100km in the time I have owned it!

I was looking at Ford Territory but the fuel savings almost paid for the extra lease costs on the X!

Luke

Two dealers now have told me that the comfort seats are STANDARD on the 4.8...... whether that is for current stock, new orders or not I don't know but they have each volunteered that comment as every 4.8 they have been ordering has comfort seats (pre launch orders I'm thinking)

I was talking to a dealer only on Tuesday about it....

I have ordered the 3.0i diesel with the executive pack (it is on the ship - delivery mid june). My dealer recently confirmed that there are no more Comfort Seats (unless they have saved some up for the 4.8i - in which case good luck getting spare parts). For the 3.0i diesel they have changed all orders to the normal seats with lumbar support. This is a saving of ~$625. There are also no more 18' wheels at the moment. Cars are currently being shipped with 19' wheels at additional cost of around A$1400.

Hi,

Some 4.8's came through with comforts then they ran out, clients that had ordered an X5 that had comfort seat were told they could have sports seats instead or re-order the car at a later date for comfort seats. Have been told that these seat maybe available in July production. They also ran out of 20"wheels but they have now got a new supply for mid May production onwards.

Anyway my X5 goes into production next week, it was going to be April production but delayed due to that Adaptive drive & Adaptive steer was only to start in May, then the problem arose that 20"wheels & Comfort Seats had ran out. They got hold of 20"wheels and because of the sports pack and that no comfort seats are available I am now taking electric sports seats with electric lumbar support instead.

Having such major supply issues on what you would assume would be pretty popular options is very slack. An ordered car delayed by months becuase of a wheel or seat is not on!!

Ours has docked and should be here within a week or two...can hardly wait.

That is what the spec/option sheet says that can be downloaded from the bmw.com.au site.

Smile

Well I now have a VIN number for my car which is a good sign... is there anyway to track a non - US spec X5 rather than bugging the dealer ? The US bmw site does not like my 18 Digit VIN number...
