Yep I know I was being a little sarcastic... I would assume the parts are not all made in US though.... like that cheap rubber covered plastic that peels...

The Mercedes MLs are also built in the USA - at Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I presume that both BMW and MB figured that they would sell more X5s/MLs in the USA then anywhere else, so why not build them there.

Yep.... probably before the dollar crashed though... What amazes me is despite the AUD$ vs USD we continue to subsidise the local dealers and the American economy....

I have send a few enquiries (ECU upgrade) to different company which are located in Syd and QLD, but they all refer to a guy called Dean who is the owner of Volkspower Buwrwood Melbourne. I will ring him to find out more.

X5TT - keep following that lead

aside - my X535d has had a fuel pump part replaced today, and I get it back tomorrow. (This was after being off road for 3 weeks with handbrake failure, getting it back for one day before fuel pump issue flashed through on iDrive) Fingers crossed it starts to behave ..otherwise I'm going to ask for my Mazda 6 back

Didn't your dealer say one more issue and you would get a new car? Sounds like new car time to me...
