I know a few of you guys will have the 275/40/20 315/35/20 staggered setup for the wheels/tyres so I thought I would throw this one out there for info.

Its time to replace my tyres and I am now going for the new continental extreme DWS to replace my yoko advans.

Qouted almost $900 per tyre at my local Bob Jane T Mart !!!

Jumped onto tirerack.com and emailed Gill who handles overseas orders.

Managed to get my tyres incl shipping and converted to AUD = $1448.

This was all up incl shipping, foreign exchange and wire transfer fee. I may be charged GST and import tax but this will only add another 15%. (The tyres came to <$1000 so I may not get charged any gst or import duties).

Either way though its a great price. So for those needing new tyres this is definately something for you to look into.

Service is fast too, I made wire transfer yesterday and got confirmation of payment within 24 hrs. Tyres are on its way via fedex.

dont quote me on this! but i heard some insurance co won't insure your car if your car is fitted with non ADR compliance accessories such as US spec tyres, you might want to check with your insurance and road authority for legality etc.

I have talked to my mate who worked in BMW, and he doesn't recommend to do it. Because first you lost warranty for upgrading ECU, second if you do have some problems with car, they always say that's because of the upgrade, and he also mentioned overheating issues.

thanks in advance if you can share with your thoughts and experience.

Ran.
I presume you will be picking your car tomorrow morning with the new ECU?

Do let us know what are your thoughts of the upgrade.

I am contemplating of upgrading the ECU too but just a little concern how the quite significant increase in power and torque would impact on the car's mechanical reliability. It is the misses' car (& family wagon) afterall, so I have to make sure whatever is done to does not harm its reiability.

Does DMS provide any warranty?

sorry about the late reply. I don't log on very often.
Yes, you can just replace the RFT's with ordinary tyres.
Hope you get you cars sorted soon. At least your dealer seems helpful. I would be very pis*ed if my car is in the workshop regularly.

The tyre comes from the same factory and is not altered. '' US spec'' and ''Australian Spec'' tyres are the same. ie they come from same factory and then have a compliance ''sticker'' slapped on to say it passes minimum requirements.

In essence the tyres are identical.

Haven't got a chance to drop my car on Wed, will drop it by next Monday.

I'm not sure about the warranty, but I won't go ahead if they say no warranty for their work
