yes, and that included ....
the $1000 they make you pay for insurance gap coverage, and close to $3k for the BMW Platinum protection package ...so in reality it was $105k drive away .... the dealers had things like factory bonus incentives to shift available stock + $4k BMW diesel discount + hagling etc
other thing to remember though is that I did not go overboard on options: - USB for ipod - Sunroof - Sports Steering wheel - side boards - alpine white (therefore no extra paint cost which saved a few thousand- but only because we actually wanted a white one) The extra stuff is always nice if you really need it, but I didn't + the 35d is pretty well kitted as standard. I would recommend test driving a few types with different options before deciding what works for you. e.g. if you're getting factory order then comfort seats would be worth $3k in my opinion, but other gadgets perhaps not ..also ..sports option with 20's etc starts adding $$ - looks great but we felt the ride was just terrible - god help people who try to drive 20's offroad / sand / snow etc ...then again 99% of time X5's are cruising the burbs ... but still ... hated the ride on 20's. when you buying

I would expect drive away list price for a 35d would be around $125K. Does this mean you got approx $20K off list? Also did you get the new iDrive system in yours with the hard-disk based satnav?

Mine was build date Sept 09 so missed new iDrive system ..
I have a brand new 520D loaner right now with the new idrive - must admit I dont think its really any better than current X5 idrive - in fact my wife found it more confusing?! like anything practice makes perfect even with current idrive ...one thing i did notice though is that response is a little faster with new one ... i.e. clicking buttons etc ... then again I'm not going to forge any form of guinness record like those crazy texters so fine by me
![]() I was happy with the $110k .. but lets face it they're not cheap ! I reckon adding all the fruit would have set me back $130k drive away .. I can remember using the online BMW car config tool and almost falling off my chair everytime I added fruit ![]() I also know that new shape / model will come out 2012 and will trade at that point for latest ..I dont think the LCI was worth holding out for in a few months time ..but personal choice .. |

X5s have been the preferred choice for Aussies looking for a luxury SUV ever since the first E53 arrived down under. Over the years the E53 and the then the E70 have fought off the best efforts of Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, VW, Volvo etc. All those buyers can't be wrong.

![]() after 3 weeks and only 600km the park brake decided to stop working and display and warning message !! 2. One day (after our really hot day in Melbourne) the 'Accept' iDrive would not work at all - so no Nav/Radio or anything .. after driving for 10 min the BMW sign displayed on unit and it restarted itself .... QUOTE] I had these 2 problems too. The paark brake was solved by the dealer. Problem no. 2 happened a couple of times, then seem to have corrected itself. I think the new iDrive is an improvement, though not hugely so. The ride on 20" RFT's is bad, no doubt about it. Can be improved by non-RFT's though. |

Can non RFT be slotted onto current rims ?
Just curious - is it as easy as just not opting for RFT when the new RFT are ready for replacement - I have 18" tyres as standard on the 35D

Hi Ran,
Try looking up www.dmsautomotive.com.au and see if you can contact someone that can help you with a tuner in melbourne. The info i have is from the oct 2009 MOTOR 'hot tuners' edition where they tuned a 335. Not sure about x5 35d however have seen them advertise tunes for it. Hope this helps. Let us know what you find. Ash Last edited by aus x5; 02-03-2010 at 07:44 AM. |
