Hope this helps.
Let us know what you find.

Be interesrted to hear if they do the 'tuning', or they purchase a tune/flash/program from a vendor/programmer elsewhere....

That sucks.. I bought my E70 in July 2007 (3.0 d) and I have some niggling issues... more recently th ecar going into neutral which is covered in another thread.. but overall no major issues... despite mine being an early MY ...I assume you have a 35d I've seen a bit of fuel pump threads on here about that engine unfortunately.. I haven't had the handbrake issue and it would appear it' surfaced after mine was built and I would suggest related to Auto Hold perhaps ...... Best of Luck...

thanks boags

yes, saw your post re shift to N - hope that one gets sorted - I often wonder if the software upgrades they do along the way can create more harm than good at times

I wrote an email to BMW Sales head today complaining .. my car is a brand spanking 35d - I now have a love hate affair with the X5. I have told them I'll give it one more go before seeking external 3rd party advice - my family needs reliable transport - and I'm not getting that right now. My X5 has now officially been off the road longer than on the road - I have only had it on the road for 3 weeks with 900km on it .. this is really bad and I feel now that everytime I get into it I'm going to expect something to go wrong .. not the 'JOY' experience I was hoping for from BMW...

The issue I see is that in the X5 they are continually introducing new features, whilst that is seen as a good thing this means introducing more things that can go wrong and a model never reaches a maturity level where all the possible issues are ironed out.... so you are never buying a car which has been on the market as a complete unit for a period of time where you can say that all the bugs would be ironed out... my 2 cents anyway... I am most likely to buy an ML next time. The designed in Germany built in China mentality is wearing thin on consumers...

good points ...

but I owned a mazda 6 for almost 5 years prior to this and had ZERO issues over its whole life (and it was a new model when I got it) ...

I just think that these guys rush new gadgets to keep their nose ahead ... at the cost of customer satisfaction when it all goes pear shaped ..

good news for me is that dealer just rang and has committed (in writing) to completely replace my car if I get one more issue within the next 5000km ..so that's made me feel a bit better now ...

I guess that there is a lot of luck in all this but I've had four different BMWs over a period of nearly 20 years and nothing has ever gone wrong with any of them and they have never been to the dealer except for scheduled service.

Hope it all works out you. It must be terribly frustrating going through what you have gone through. Good luck!
