i have been working with BMW north shore (chatswood) in sydney - they have been pretty good, they gave me printed price and options lists and they were able to log into the BMW intranet and share very detailed specs and info with me from the BMW internal sales guides for the updated (LCI) x5

on another note coming back to the question of prices and relative prices in AU vs US done take this as rude but it naive to think that the prices in AU are set that way. BMW have extremely spohiosticated price models based on what they calculate the market can bear as a price vs the number of units they will sell vs the % market share that will give them in each country. An X5 or any BMW's sale price has precious little to do with component or development cost - those are recouped extremely quickly - its all about what they can get away with - as does every brand if were being honest

Got 20" on mine and have not noticed alignment or excessive wear. Having said that, we have only done about 3800 km

I've had 3 X5s, 2 e53s and 1 e70, will be going into my 4th e70 in the next month.

I've always gotten the sport package and the largest rims available for them at the inception of each lease. My driving habits are aggressive at times, and on the first X5 I wore down the inner edges of the tires much faster than I expected. I think I got 13k miles on performance summer tires. At the first tire change the SA who I befriended advised that I get an alignment to switch the camber and toe on the e53 to the lowest spec value that BMW recommended. If you are familiar with BMW camber and toe, you know that they vary anywhere from -1.5-2.5. After the changes I got to 6k on the same second set of tires before lease end (20k mile lease term). The next e53, I had the same (brand new set) summer performance tires with alignment done, I went the full term of 20k miles with maybe another 3-4k left in them. On the e70 I switched to all-season tires from OEM and they lasted almost the full term of the 36k mile lease with more thread to spare.

Before taking delivery of my next 2011 e70 (20" style 336 with OEM RFTs), I'm switching out to all-season Conti DWS non-RFTs from the current OEM RFTs. I will also be getting an alignment to do the same thing. I'll switch back the the OEM RFT at lease end. The Contis should last me almost all the way to the end of the lease (45k mile lease this time).

I was at the tyre shop the other day getting my brothers car re-aligned and inquired about tyre pricing for the e70, (we just took delivery of ours just under a month ago and i'm running 20")

the guy at the shop said that x5's have a tendency to go through tyres pretty quickly so make sure you get a decent alignment every 6months. I've done a total of 1500 km so far

Big wheels with wide tyres have more alignment and wear issues than smaller wheels and narrower tyres on both E70 and E53. It's not a specific problem with 20s or 21s ... just a spectrum of increasing problems as you move from 17/18s up to 21 and beyond.

The problem works two ways. Wider tyres transmit more loads back into the suspension/steering systems accelerating both wear and alignment issues. And, then, once mis-aligned and/or worn, the suspension/steering will cause more wear problems with wider/lower profile tyres than with narrower/higher profile tyres.

Anyone interested in buying a BMW Kidsbike?
It is in as new condition, used a couple of times only. It is in blue colour.
I think dealer sells for around $500. Asking $290 ono. Prefer pick up only, Brisbane.
