Nice:thumbup: I did exactly the same several years ago. In fact, I overhauled the entire suspension except the bearings and rear subframe bushings. You'll enjoy the ride for many years. I got everything from fcpeuro, so the next overhaul will be "free" :D.

Definitely on my to-do list. I put new B4s shocks in the back, with all new misc parts a few months ago and can really tell a nice difference. The shocks that they replaced could have been the original ones. I'm planning new B4 struts and all new misc parts like the bearings, etc. as I know they are original.

Hopefully in a few months I'll get to this project.

Between troubleshooting my X5 being unable to idle today without dying, this arrived, along with the silly inserts that the twisty fasteners built into it, lock into. Last week I got sick of this piece rattling around due to all the fasteners being stripped and/or worn out.

I had to tape the hinge side of the air filter cover back on with RV butyl tape because I wasn't going to spring for a new upper cowl piece, but it hasn't been this secure in a decade. Popped a new air filter in while I was at it.

I played bumpy roads as my hood was stuck. [emoji28]

Now hypothetically if someone has given you a bottle of Jameson 12 y/o and you are going to have to pass thru 3 police checkpoints, well an awesome place to put an item is the little cubby that exposes the firewall and hood release cable.... it is at the same time ill advised to allow an object to pinch the hood release cable![emoji849]

I’ve only had it for 3 days. I’d been foolishly putting off buying one for too long, and it bit me last week with a dead battery in a parking garage. It could be crap, but I will say that the model just below it in their lineup was a popular mechanics best pick. I went up to the next model because it has an inverter with a cigarette lighter plug, either standalone in the car, or the battery pack has a plug and can then put out 110.

It’s heavy and just big enough to make the built in flashlight sort of a silly afterthought. The only way to charge it, out of the box, is via USB C. I thought his was odd, but it works fine. Came with a 76% charge so I plugged it into my laptop dock (about 15 watts) and it was at 100% this am and had automatically turned off. They do offer a fast charging system.

Update: A new 900 CCA battery, coupled with the reman-starter I put in last winter and the X5 explodes to life. The GooLoo 4000 jump pack adds piece of mind, and I've had to use it already because my wifes 2015 Grand Cherokee started acting up last week. Brake messages, barely starting, lots of electrical gremlins. The maint menu showed less than 8V (!) so off to Autozone for a new battery. I'm surprised it would start at all at less than 8v (the X5 could barely manage a relay "click" at 10 v), but it would, after several tries and misses. The GooLoo worked so well on her jeep though that I bought the next model down to keep in that car.

This morning I put the multi meter on the X5 and did a phantom current draw test. This after I blew my old meter up by not being able to follow directions. I puled the negative cable, bridged it to the battery with the meter and saw about 4 to 4.5 amp draw. Then I rested the meter where I could read it though the tailgate glass, closed the car up and locked it. The draw immediately dropped down to 1.5ish amps, then after what felt like 16 minutes it went down to .04 - .05 amps. Good news and I guess the (at least) 5 year old battery in the car just failed a few weeks ago and nothing I have done to the car created an excessive draw.

I'm still considering buying a solar, or plug in minder, or both depending on where and when I leave the car for longer periods when out of town. I like the thread somewhere here about the magnetic plug guys have added. Very slick.

Ugh. I forget which brand I ordered... but it doesn't sound like anything lasts very long these days. Maybe OE from the dealer? But I thought those were GKN as well.. :dunno:

I have the same thing going with an inner boot. Ordered a replacement. The inners are so much easier to install.

Only complication I ever get with CV axle repair is when the snap rings bind. Went though three until I got one to fit after replacement of outer boot
