Just listed my beloved X on AutoTrader . . . a sad day for me.

Have cared for my 2001 5 spd with aggressive owner mx since purchased in 2009. Been an excellent truck . . . have long commute to work now and sold the boat . . . so it's time for my X to find a new home.
Have enjoyed all the great interaction here on XOutpost.

Regards - Darrell

They're already so rotten I guess it wouldn't hurt to try just ripping them out...

Yeah I wasn't pulling hard enough. Once I got it started it came off easily. The LCI donor fit fine. Now the door takes about twice as much oomph to shut, and sounds a lot more solid when closed. $15 vs $135.

If I ever meet the idiot who designed that door sill trim piece with the sliding clips... clobberin' time.

Hit three pull-yer-parts today and found (to my surprise) three more good door seals, and a set of window scrapers/trims that will clean up nicely. Mine are so sun-blasted... none of the junkers had a nav head unit tho. Mine works but the cassette drive is kinda noisy and all my music comes through a bluetooth cassette adapter.

Though it odd that every single one of them had the cluster yanked. Is that a common failure item?

Hey salty did any of the junkers have a panoramic sunroof?

sidneyj,
Do you need parts or entire roof?

The two that did no longer have them. Seems like a valuable part!

I get a notification whenever E53s show up at these yards but most of the time I can't get there during a work week (or I'm on a work trip) so they're pretty picked over by the time I get to em.

What viscosity oil are you using?

I'm running 5W30, whould that have an impact you think? Next maintenance I'll schedule in to replace the chain tensioners, better safe than sorry. The steering wheel also got notchy and I have a wobble at highway braking, so I guess suspension linkages and brake discs are in my future too... I'll start saving :D

Tension struts are the prime suspect for steering wobble light braking

What yards give you a notification when they get an E53 in? Is it like a chain like B&R?

I read up on it and that seems to cause my symptoms!
