Any pointers on replacing pre-LCI door seals? I pulled one off a post-LCI at the pull-yer-part but once home realized it's the typical crimped on the pinch weld vs the pre-LCI that appears to be glued in place.

My Bentley manual is mute on this one. How do I replace it assuming I have a good one available? They're all rotten at the bottom. New ones are still available and every pre-LCI junkyard carcass I've found has rotted seals so no point in pursuing used.

Same with door panel vapor barriers... get em new while you can, once you've fixed all the usual door lock/latch issues.

Tap for 5-10 second pretty normal. Rattle is tensioner related.

Tap on cold start is usually cam followers filling up and it's fairly harmless at idle to tap the cam.

Share a recording.

Loose tensioner is the main cause of chain guide failure on M62. They can go 300-400,000 miles if you change the tensioner often enough. If you can't confirm I'd change with OEM tensioner

Cheers Andrew!

The tapping persists for about a minute or until the revs go a bit hinger while driving. I'll see if I can upload a recording. My guess is to replacen the tensioners too.. just to be safe

The n52 motor takes like 30 minutes to get the "lifters" filled. I only worked on M62 never owned one to see what It behaved liked long term.

What viscosity oil are you using?

If I recall it was an ABS error, both times, along with AUC sensor error once (since replaced, and it works now).

Has not recurred in months.

AUC sensor won't trip the check engine light.

Source: have had a faulty AUC sensor since the day I bought the car

It was in a group of multiple errors that tripped and forced limp mode.

I can tell the replacement is working though!

Yeah, I just mean it won't ever cause any problems with the car or trip the check engine light or trigger limp mode. The other things are what caused your problems.

Seems the pre/post-LCI door seals are the same part. These (the one that goes around the entire door opening, not the window scrapers) are supposed to just pull off. The ones on mine seem glued on vs the post-LCI I took one from in that they will not just pull off the pinch weld. Maybe I'm not pulling hard enough? They're already so rotten I guess it wouldn't hurt to try just ripping them out...

I get it. I posted all the codes way upstream here when it happened a few months ago. I saw "AUC" and once I learned what it was from a commenter I ordered a new one. Before I replaced it, if I was behind a stank-ass diesel or other smelly exhaust it was definitely bad with the windows up. Now I might get a little whiff of it but it shuts the fresh air intake right away. Surprised to know it exists!

Yeah, I had the same surprise. Quite sophisticated huh! Someday I might even get around to replacing mine.

When I bumped into the live data for AUC I left it on during a drive and sure enough when I got near a construction area where there were laying asphalt I saw exactly when the sensor caused the fresh air flap to close.
