Now for the important question, does it still squeak?

four.8is 03-30-2017 09:17 PM

Oh man, squeaks like a pig. I'm driving my other car til I sort out the suspension. It really does sound like ball joint damage from all the videos on bad ball joints I watched...but the rest of the suspension needs replaced so I decided to get the full kit from FCP

full rear brake overhaul. disks pads and shoes. after doing the rear drivers ( your passenger side (I'm in the UK)) :)
next stop changing the speed sensor on the same corner.

Ball joint squeak can be fixed in seconds. I had an insane squeak in my previous car that drove me insane until I cut a tiny hole in the boot and sprayed 1 sec spray of wd-40. This was only a stop-gap solution to save my insanity while the part was on order since was my only car. It's. sure fire way to determine exactly which joint though.

I swear the BMW gods hate me. Swapped a new front passenger tire just because it was showing a tinge of dry rot.

Washed the X....and when I went to dress the wheels, I spied a nail on the outer shoulder on the passenger Rear.

I know the feeling. Could be worse though, like a head gasket. Lol
Pull the nail out, fix the tire, done. NYC streets don't help either do they...

Edit: I bet someone opened a beer with that nail

Just had a flat repair done on mine as well today. Right in the center of the tread though so no issues. My condolences that yours was on the shoulder. :(

Oh man didn't even read the shoulder part.
My apologies...

Replaced the thermostat that was stuck open and the water pump "while I was in there."

I feel your pain.

Bad alignment chewed to the metal belts on both front tires of wife's X so I swapped rear to front and since we both have the same car I took both our spares and put on her rears.

Bad move: dry rot on old spares completely self destructed within the first 100 miles.

This was a the inside of her tire after it blew out on the tollway on the way to O'Hare.
