Double post- oops

Did my first mechanical task, and changed here oil.
Sadly, I'm very disheartened as it now idles horribly and shudders. I would hugely appreciate any advice on this. https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...-beginner.html |

replaced front sway bars , and replaced rear wheel sensor
Q though the rear drivers (UK) side was bad (3 yellow lights) replaced sensor , and ive still got 3 lights to clear these , do I have to get the codes read/erased or disconnect battery all night or will it clear them itself will need them gone for MOT (UK) answers on a postcard Cheers Steve |
Hey guys, did rear pads and sensor on my car for the first time , pretty pleased actually. The sensor broke coming apart there was so much crap in there but the wiring is intact and after a bit of ferking about it all came together. The light stayed on though but after trying the reset process for a E46 it has gone out ! Very happy camper just quietly. I bought pads from Repco over here in OZ and they were on special ,older model runout reduced to $30 bucks. Thermoquiet ceramic pads, made by a big manufacturer over here Ferodo . My first attempt at diy in many years years ,back in the day when cars were much simpler I did all my own stuff and really happy to get back on the tools.

Technically you are correct. Key word in my post is should. It is recommended the sensors be replaced when the pads are replaced regardless if the light has come on or not. Logic is there are both inexpensive and best practice.

I narrowed down the list of reasons my 4.8 might be farting. It has a low, long groan/fart noise when turning, but only in the morning. Does it all through my 45 minute AM routine then behaves perfectly when I leave work.
i ruled out suspension (just about totally rebuilt anyway), wheels (same), and motor mounts before going to the Indy. They confirmed the above and eventually landed on a worn power steering pump. Haven't done any work yet and they seem a bit unsure so don't want to throw money at noises just yet. |
