Is that a" M Performance" decal on the X5? How long have you had it on the X5

I put it on about a week ago.

This was the casualty of my front end refurbishment :(

Mike

Ha, now that's funny - here's mine after working on the front end!

I found a replacement handle last night on eBay:

It's taken a beating... and delivered quite a few beatings as well. :D It's definitely the best persuasion tool I've ever purchased. I don't even remember where I got it, but it has performed some serious work. Both on the car and the house. I used it to drive an 18" spike into concrete to break up a walkway I poured when we first bought the house. It didn't even break a sweat... though I sure as hell did.

Here's my "pickle fork of power" and my BFH after beating my rear driveshaft into submission. That mofo was frozen on the output pin of the transfer case. After all the beating the centering sleeve still stayed on the output pin and had to be pulled of with a 3 jaw. On reassembly everything got a liberal coating of copper grease I assure you! :bustingup

Yeah, my replacement BFH has a fiberglass handle now!

I have a pickle fork like that too! It's a great joint buster!

I broke lots of hammers in my early DIY years, then remembered my Dad telling me to work smarter, not harder.

With the compressor and air tools in the garage (air chisel included), got the pickle forks for this work......

These cost no more then a good hammer, and make DIYs a breeze.

@crystal: NICE BFH! I have a similar one somewhere I have to locate in my tools.

Good deal. Yeah the pickle fork has been ground down in the front for clearance on bmw ball joints and you can see how much it's gotten used by the mushrooming at the back of it. :D It made VERY quick work of the lower control arms on the front end the other day. I had both sides done, along with the sway bar end links, in a little over an hour. I would hammer the fork in and then jack up the handle with the floor jack (leave the nut on the top of the threads of ball joint). Would pop out easily no fuss, no muss.

Now that I think about it though the hammer might be a Harbor Freight jobbie.

Time to grind that mushroom down. Pieces breaking off do nasty things to your eyes!

Okay I just finished installing the switchbacks that you recommended in my 2003 X5 4.6is and funny thing is the switchback works as its listed where turn signal is in amber and the park light is white. These leds are bright which is way better than the silver coated incandescent bulbs that bimmian sells. Crystalworks thanks for the recommendation. Oh by the way didn't have to use load resistors on these led bulbs also.
