2001 X5 4.4L
216K, motor went :( trans replaced at 140K transfer case replaced at 170K rear drive line replaced at same time had two sets of front wheel bearings countless windwo regulators countless ball joints countless sets of tires (20's) a few door lock actuators steering colum stopped working at 115k |
198,674 miles on my 2001
window regulators numerous times, final stage resistor, spark plugs, Alternator, valley pan gasket, all seals and gaskets on the top half of the motor, battery, CV boots, wheel bearings, and various bulbs, radio, AC fan and clutch, windshield wiper motor, I noticed a slip in the transmission when I would take off, so I had the transfer case chain replaced.I was told by the mechanic that took care of the transfer case chain..NOT to replace my transmission fluid with as many miles that I have on mine. My X5 would go into shock and would damage everything. |
'06 3.0 135K+
I drive 20K a year, mostly highway for work. It has been virtually FLAWLESS! Just the HID leveling electrics have been replaced, otherwise, just lots of regular service. About 10-15K on new Trans fluid/filter/gasket, no problems. I feel happier about removing all the metal in the bottom of the pan and putting new fluid in. I tried 87 octane a few times, but got some mild pinging. Won't do that again. My X5 experience has been so good, I'm looking to buy another one maybe this week. My wifes POS Saturn needs replacing and I'm thinking whats better than 1 X5 than 2..!?! |
