For you owners that have installed them, did you notice any increase or decrease in the dreaded hatch rattle condition?

I had gotten rid of my rattle by about 90%, by updating to the newer spring loaded bump stops and by adding some cushion pads to the upper latch. Now that I've installed these springs the rattle is completely gone, so that's a side benefit of installing these springs.

Noted on my to do's is to get the updated bump stops.

TBH, I spray a little Teflon lubricant on the upper latch about twice a year and to be honest that stops 75% of the rattles.

OK, I put mine on last night.
I have to say I was a skeptic from the beginning, but boy was I wrong.
these things are awesome.
fastest upgrade I've ever done too, other than adding an air freshener.
So quick and I LOVE how there is NO extra stress it seems on the electrical closing/opening mechanism. No sound of having to work a little bit extra. NONE.
AND the trunk does NOT rocket open at all in cooler temps, as can be expected. It opens to about 75% only in my garage (about 15° C/59°F) which is nice.
and like everyone says about closing the lid... Its an added bonus cause NOW if you are closing and accidently let go of the lid, it will not crash closed, NOR will a friend be able to slam it closed. the Springs stop it from falling naturally about 1 ft from the opening and you have to physically press lightly on it now which I LIKE a LOT. No more accidently slaming the trunk causing rattles.
TOTALLLLY RECOMMEND

Would these kick as much ass on the normal 00-03 non soft-touch close lids too you think?

EDIT: I'll prob just have to put the rubber washers and pony up the $30

Got mine too. Putting them in tonight.

no need for rubber washers after all. I thought I'd need them but they do not slide down my gas shock rods (currently) as they are a snug fit near the end/screwed on receiver. BUT it can't hurt I guess to have the rubber washers. its nice to press the hatch pop button and have the top open a lot more than factory allowed. a LOT more and I LOVE how you can not accidently slam the hatch anymore.

Put mine in last night. Definitely a cool/cheap mod. I don't like how noisey they are when I open the hatch but i'll fix that with washers. Mine don't sit snug they slide down.

525, interesting to hear. I bet a rubber washer that is sliiiiightly smaller ID hole size than the OD of the Polished Rod will stop the springs from moving after hatch opens up.

I redid mine today. It was originally throwing the hatch open so violently that it cracked the sockets on both ends of the right side strut. (The struts were brand new from Uro Parts) I ordered a replacement strut and cut one coil off of each spring. I also installed some rubber washers to keep the springs from bouncing around.

Don't know if it's relevant, but I'd originally installed the struts upside down with the piston on the top.

In any event, they're perfect now. Hatch pops open and slowly raises all the way up.

Just a reminder... if you do this mod, PROP UP the hatch before you pop off the first strut or it might crash down hard on your head. (Don't ask how I know)
