The M Sport Package is getting a facelift too??? :dunno: It just came out in April '09 (U.S.)!:wow:

IMO, if they don't make the X5 bigger (which I'd agree would tarnish the sporty X5 image), I can't see it competing seriously as a family hauler. I always thought they added the 3rd row as an afterthought just to be able to contest that they have one. Sure it will seat 7 in a pinch and that's why it works for some people, but the biggest turnoff to me is how small, flimsy, and low the seats are - they don't belong in a luxury vehicle. I know they had to do it to avoid a box-like shape of a minivan in the rear, but it's quite comical not to be able to see your kids in the 3rd row from the front. They're staring at the upper half of the 2nd row, and without entertainment. An X7 introduction would be necessary to get a proper 3rd row accomplished but then it would be a scary image for a BMW.

It came to US in 2009. But M-sport pack has been out since 2007.

ALL european BMW's have Amber Tails, I'd MUCH prefer it if it came back. And if they can't make LED indicators, then they are just moronic. But thank god they're finally putting the blinker in the right spot rather than at the bottom. The current design looks like the kid with an ass for a head on Family Guy

if anything we should go back to clears, i found red looks like nothing but a safty hazard. clear + amber = WIN!

BMW will be giving its X5 a light facelift for next year which includes new front and rear bumpers and, for the first time, the introduction of a new one-piece tailgate.

BMW also tends to introduce a new engine with each new model or facelift, though for the X5, all the possible choices form a very short list.

One of these possibilities is a hybrid powertrain since BMW has been exhibiting concept ActiveHybrids. An X6 hybrid has even been spied doing tests. It could also just be the 4.4-litre twinturbo V8 in the upcoming X5 M but M cars are treated as separate models in Munich.

The new X5 is expected to make an official entrance before the end of the year.

I like the clamshell design, I'll get grumpy if it goes to 1-piece.

rh71 09-17-2009 09:50 AM

^ I read somewhere within the last 2 days that it will remain 2 pieces now... forget where :( Also, it doesn't look like much but the 1 piece hatches are heavier. Lift a minivan hatch recently? Not a huge deal if you have auto-tailgate I suppose. You do have to step back quite a bit as it opens.
