I really don't like the new bumper design. If I had to get one, it'd be a dark color so people cannot differentiate between the body or bumper grills.

dug into the parts bin, imo. Cost containment, but the ad copy shills can call it a face lift, tack on 3% and get a pat on the back, imo. BR,mD |

I think the sheet metal screws covered in duct tape give it a real manly look
Seriously, these latest pics don't seem right. On this mule it looks like they literally used sheet metal screws and duct tape to graft an X6 style bumper onto an X5 by slicing the lower part of the X5's fender off. So it is unlikely they are testing final fitment, fasteners, rattles, etc. What exactly are they testing with this mule -- drag coefficient, cooling, etc.? Funf Dreisig |
X5 Facelift
Just received this info from some local contacts. The biggest exterior change for the coming X5 Facelift....short of the X6 front and rear bumpers will be the rear hatch.BMW will go to a single piece rear hatch. No more two piece unit.BMW is very much into value engineering...given the auto sales meltdown. The 2 piece rear hatch complicated the build process and I'm not sure many customers will miss the smaller lower piece. The TTI6 gasoline engine will be an option on the facelift X5.Not sure about the V8 engine lineup....more to follow. Thanks!
