ok guys. i finally got some accurate info regarding deliveries of the 2011 x5's (and x6's).

i know a few of you have said that your cars are in various stages of production, but here is a really good fact that you should all be aware of regarding when the vehicle will be delivered.

this was quoted from a contact at the factory in SC...

=====
"all X5's and X6's (gas and diesel models) are being held for EPA/ CARB approval. Vehicles may complete production but the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) will not ship the vehicle to the Retail BMW Center until the CARB/EPA approvals are received and the holds placed on the vehicles are removed. The vehicles will sit in a storage area at the Manufacturing facility until they can be released to the carriers for shipment."
=====

i hope this clears up any confusion about production dates and deliveries. if anyone knows anyone at CARB or the EPA, get on them to get the approvals!!! ;)

they said they were 'hoping' it would happen this week or next week, but didn't really speculate or give an eta.

that puts the kabash on april deliveries unless you picking it up yourself...

Lammy 04-07-2010 11:53 AM

yea, i am picking it up myself actually..but they won't schedule a date until the approvals come in... im all over this, like white on rice - so ill post as soon as i get an update, but if the rest of you want to start asking your CA's and 800 # contacts about these EPA and CARB approvals, maybe we can get more info...

PS - CARB is the california air resource board or something like that... and i think they only need CARB approvals for the diesels, but not 100 percent on that.

Thanks Lammy. I am now subscribed to the thread.

BTW - also a Brooklynite here, from Sheepshead Bay

I'm sure your source has more knowledge of what's happening, but the BMW NA Cust Svc person I talked to said that EPA was pulling a random # from production to test, but that it wasn't holding up those vehicles that weren't pulled for testing...I guess we'll find out soon enough which it is...
