m-sport on non M is lame...

SiliconValleyDriver 04-09-2010 04:08 PM

My XDrive35i which was due to complete production today, April 9, is at at the Final Processing Center / S. Carolina VPC and it shows current status as having been Released to Carrier (Norfolk Southern) and is due to ship from VPC on Sunday (4/11). I'm in northern CA. Does anyone know where X5's get shipped to? Since it's been through the VPC in SC, does the vehicle go directly to the dealership or does it go to the west coast VPC in Port Hueneme (southern CA) first?

I would agree with that on the previous M Sport Pack with old 4.8-- but the TT 400HP has M type performance--regardless if it's a true M or not.

But the M-sport package here is not a clone of the TRUE ///M (like the 5er) and IMO does not make it's owner a poseur..they're not slapping ///M badges on it and the likes, just getting slightly different front and rear treatments and color coded trim..and the ///M has yet another treatment.

No I agree it's not a M. And I don't think people who get the M Sport Pack are trying to say it's a M. Most of us aren't going to get the X5M --the M Sport just has a distinctive look other than the "standard edition".

I agree with you BGM. It was not around when I ordered mine, and having seen a bunch of them, I would probably have ordered it as I like the deletion of the black plastic trim.

My comments were really towards PasPar2's comment.."m-sport on non M is lame..." don't know that he's seen one and just thought his comment reflected that perhaps he thought people were putting the full ///M front and rear on non ///M vehicles.

I quoted the wrong post in my initial response....:banghead:

My 335d has been at delivery center for 2 weeks and I found out the delay was for epa testing and certification of emissions. I looked at the available testing info on the epa and other sites and was not happy that mine will undergo these tests. Having read what I read and wanting to break in my diesel, I have concerns about multiple dynometer starting/stopping/accelerating cycles with cold/warm engine temps, sitting at idle, driving cycles representing typical urban use and agressive high speed and/or high acceleration and deceleration tests. From what I could learn, there will be double-digit miles on the car. Anyone have info about this???

how did you find out that they are using your exact car for the testing? i think someone said something about them choosing a vehicle at random or something... i heard ALL X5/X6 models will be held at the VPC until the emissions approvals come in...

heya. so i guess we all have to keep an eye on each others status to make sure we are all being told the same thing... from what i gathered, the cars are not being released from the VPC's until the emissions tests are complete (which could happen any day now), but has not happened as of yet.

if anyone in this thread gets word that their cars are moving past the VPC's then please post here.
