Interesting, but that seems like more of a cover-up than a solution.

The appeal of the foam kits, is that they are supposed to clean off the evaporator, where the nasty junk has started growing.

That being said, I would guess that the approach from the video in tandem with a foaming cleaner should result in the best possible outcome.

Added some interior bling with new pedals. Always looked good on my E46s and look pretty good on an E70.

There is another style that uses 3M tape/rubber boot that looks great without the Drilling.

YOU DON'T NEED TO DRILL HOLES IN YOUR OE PEDALS TO GET THAT LOOK !!!

Is there an issue with drilling holes that we should be aware of? Your all caps response and three exclamation points have my attention.
