I show a wire #22 on your radio labeled "brake ctl"

This may be the parking brake wire. If it is (should show what it does in the manual) it HAS to be grounded to play dvd's.

Make SURE that's what that wire is before just grounded it for the heck of it since it could damage the radio if that isn't what it is.

Also you should be able to go into settings.

Then choose driving settings.

Then turn on watching video.

The description says "Turn this on to allow you to watch video while driving"

Doing this may bypass the parking brake wire requirement.

I have had it set on -- watch video while driving.

That leaves wire #22 needing to be grounded possibly.

I could get any real instructions for your particular radio from seicanes site so Im not sure if that wire needs grounding or not. I know on my pioneer radios and some of my eonons if you don't ground the parking brake wire you cant watch dvd's.

Great thread. Got a Boss Audio head unit on the way but will probably return it. Really want Android Auto but thinking having Wi-Fi to install updates in the future will be important

I will check out #22.

I found more detailed instructions than those included with the unit but they are just as useless, as is Seicane tech non existent.

Can you view a video file on a usb? Something like a .mp4 file? Have you tried assigning the different player programs you suggested the unit has as the default for DVD? I don't have a DVD player on my android unit so I can't do much research.

When I first installed the unit I tried a DVD. The music screen came up instead of the DVD screen as it should. However, somehow I saved the files on the disc to the unit's video files. To this day if I put that one DVD in the player and then go to USB on video files I can play that disc but no other. It will only play if the that disc is in the player. From that my conclusion has been that I either changed something that keeps that from happening now or something has happened to the unit. The unit acknowledges other discs are loaded but when I try to play them a message pops up on the screen saying it can't play them and go check preferences. I have no clue where to go or what to check.

I have not tried using a flash drive or scandisk. I will give it a try and see what happens.

Not knowing which version of Android your unit is running, changing the default player is done under an App Manager (or similar name). Find the player name in the list of Apps, click Set as Default, you should get an option to Clear Defaults. Then when the unit recognises a DVD you 'should' be prompted to select the App you want to 'Open with'. If that's how your unit responds and those steps make sense, you could try different Apps to see if one will work and play your DVD's. If none work, and your unit is able to connect to the internet, install VLC from the play store and try that as the default player.
Good luck!
