Steering had become progressively more difficult over past 6 months or more. Had the steering shaft/u-joint replaced. Old shaft joint bound up and difficult to move. Drives like a BMW again.

I didn't see anybody answer this question...

Depends on the engine, as the 2003 4.4i could be either the M62 or the N62.

M62 oil pump is #11411439260

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_2820

N62 oil pump is #11417561429

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_3271

I'm sure some of the V8 guys can advise on the likelihood of the oil pump being your issue.

My car does exactly that when it's a little low on oil. I don't know if there is a sensor that will read pressure with a scanner. If it does with full and fresh oil count the seconds. I'm not worried when lifters stop ticking within 3-4 seconds.

Just started test drive of redone ac 2nd time and now.... new tires #%&@** you've never changed a tire until you've done it on 1,000,000 degree pavement!!!

Air temp 54c so glad it's not "hot" yet...

What did you do to / for your E53 today??

Now that's a properly worn tire. Looks near identical to the one my wife took out.

You have the cure to 1000 degree payment in your photo:

I use my sun screen every time I work on a car. Doesn't matter the temp it's way more comfortable to kneel or sit on than pavement when it's icy or snow. (Or even when a nice temp and avoid kneeling on one pea gravel)

It's ∞ nicer to be on padded insulation. It will help greatly when the road is too hot to touch as well as too cold. It's also water proof so when it's raining or wet also applies. You can keep folded for more padding when kneeling or you can lay it out flat to lay down on.

Not long ago I got splashed by a car on the freeway and the water made it into my transmission connection and gave me a failsafe.

I needed to slide under my car in an inch of slush and the sun screen to the rescue I barely got wet and way warmer.

I'm currently running the Nitto NT 555 G2's (only because it was a deal I couldn't pass up) but they are doing great so far. I've run the older models on cars before and always had good luck with them. The Invo's are a bit more performance based tho so wet weather traction and longevity may not be as good, but would still get the job done.

TireRack was having a deal on Vredestein Ultrac tires but not sure it's still going. Never used them but reviews seem pretty good. I think they are just a little noisy.

Currently trying to chase a driveline noise. Wish me luck.

Pssss... CSB, guibos, and driveshaft servicing is in order. But we've had that discussion already.
