Vanos! All went well except the damn fan. What a pita. So far no leaks from the VCg. Found a spark plug that had worked itself slightly loose. Took it for a 60 mile drive and feels good so far. Next week I'm doing a full fluid change on the driveline.

Forgot to add this from 2 weeks ago: Replaced oil pan gasket, oil filter housing gasket, both CCV diaphragms and oil level sensor o-ring.

You can also damage numerous electrical item driving with low voltage, as volts drop, amp draw rises. Blown fuses are best case, worse case big $.
Yeah I forgot to mention that little part. When he told me the light came on, I went to go check it. Battery was at 12.8v after it sat in the garage for 3 hours till I could get to him. So the battery was fine and could hold a charge without a problem.

Yesterday I got the new Alt, slipped it in and put everything back... Check the volts... it was a 7.5. So I went to jump it and let it sit for a while. Tried to jump, click no start. Ok, battery must be really low. Let it sit for 10 mins. Came back to try... Click no start. Take the cables off and check the battery... 3.2v. Awesome. Battery was completely drained and wouldn't hold a charge. My assumption is the alternator; when it went kaput, the power hungry X started to suck all the power from the battery. Ok, no problem... put it on the trickle charger and let it sit for a few hours. Go back to check... 2.8v

My father said, "Geez, I just replaced that battery last year." I asked him if he had the receipt... Looks in his files in his office and there it is. Nov 2012 he replaced the battery. Call the dealership and they said bring it in for an exchange. Granted, I am looking to be in and out. I get to the dealer and there is a Labor Day party going on for customer appreciation. Go to the parts counter and see the guy I tell him about the battery, nastily he goes... "You need to sit down with service, write up a ticket, then come back to me." Ok then. So I try to find an SA but they are all trying to get food from the grill. So I wait by the customer service desk. Eye candy was sitting behind the desk so I didn't mind. In my mind, I'm thinking... I should ask her out. She looks really good in those white pants and her.... ANYWAYS... an SA comes up to me asking if I needed help. I explain to him I was told to get a ticket to get a battery exchanged under warranty and the parts counter told me to see and SA first. The SA walks me to the parts counter, hollers to the back and the first guy I talked to came out. Sa goes, "Yeah, this guy needs to get a new battery... how do we do that?" Parts guy says the same thing to him as he did to me. The SA looks confused and says, "Ok, so what do we need to do here?" Long story short, they wouldn't exchange the battery until doing a test... fine. got not problem with that... but when you tell me it is going to be 6 hours to test it... I kinda lost my temper. I explained to him does that sound feasible and make any sense that you need to test a battery that long? All you would need to do is place a load and charge it... What's that take like 3 hours tops? The guy at the counter and the SA started to get nasty back and started callin me "Yo guy", dude, guy.... really? That's how you address a customer?

Long story short, I left the battery with them and told them to call me Tuesday after they get their tests back. They kept insisting I buy another battery and then they will credit me. Yeah, no. I wasn't born yesterday.

So my pop's X is in the garage til tuesday. On a happy note, my X is balls off the wall awesome! haha

Was that at a stealership or indy shop? Crazy what some places will do when they don't want to, you know, do their jobs...

I just replaced the air intake boot on my X. No more whistling and no more SES light (so far)
