BMW quote $310 !!! got same at Euro parts for $225.
10 min job to change-out.

You could've gotten it from Pelican for $106 USD, don't know how much the shipping would be to Perth though.

Pelican Parts - Product Information: 17-10-7-514-964-M9

You were right on. Finally had to practically demand the shop to replace the left front bearing, and sure enough, my X finally sounds like it should.

I spend 5 hours replacing the driver's axle! Worse job I've had to do so far. Turns out the noise I was hearing was not the axle, the bearings are bad too!!!! The CV boot had leaked most of the grease anyway and was rusting inside. I don't think the bearing will be a DIY though. Sick of buying special tools every time I work on something.

Decided I'm going to try and fix as much as I can while she's broken down. Might be out of a car for a week or two I'm thinking because of cost but better in long run right. Need moter mounts. Complete tune up. Water pump needs to be changed. Belts needs to changed. Fuel filter. All ofther filters as well. Ughh.

Replaced the rear left window regulator which made a loud "clicking" sound on closing. Amazing: why can you order that windows regulators on ebay? Maybe they break on a regular basis?

This is exactly what I'm doing, I have seen so man posts with people complaining about the repair cost of there X5 but if you keep up the preventive maintenance it will save you a fortune. After 100K kilometers your car will need belts & TENSIONER, water pump. transmission., transfer case and diff lube changes plus wheel bearings & maybe front axle/CV joints or check the boots if there perished replace them instantly plus suspension check bushes ect... I'm sure there more but you get what I mean.
I can't find a better car so I'll look after this one!

The spacers come with studs to fix them to the hub so you can use existing wheel studs to bolt wheel to spacer, my wheel studs where about 1-2 mm to long so had to grind them all down, running 20" 168 reps so just be cautious as you could be up for a new set of studs.
please post some wheel pics when you have done them
