This past week, I had the coolant tank and aux fan replaced (ouch). Also got the ELM327 bluetooth OBDII xmit and using the torque app on my phone, so I can keep an eye on engine data in real time. Thinking about mounting a 7" Galaxy Tablet down in the ashtray as a permanent item. I'd tie it in to the Mediabridge and it would make for a larger display for the torque app. Has anyone tried this ?

I changed my valve cover gasket yesterday afternoon. I was nervous at first but I can't believe how straight forward it was. BMW does such an amazing job engineering these engines, its almost as it they designed them with us in mind. I was also pleasantly surprised of how clean it was. I just scrubbed the inside of the cover with degreaser.
I just took it for a drive at 430 this morning and no leaks.

One word of advice though, be very careful when taking off the cover. The rubber seal turns to brittle plastic and pieces can fly everywhere. I had to fish a small piece that I nearly lost deep inside the crevices of the engine .

Axle replacement

It took hours of reading on the forum and watching youtube videos to muster up the courage to replace tie rods (seized) CV boots. By the time I had everything taken apart which was quite straight forward I have decided at 95K to replace the drive shafts, bearings, bushes etc. Feeling pretty good since the dealer quoted almost $2000 and I have only spent $300 on parts.

Thanks to all those that contribute articles and tips on the forum.
