Currently trying to chase a driveline noise. Wish me luck.
I'm still trying to see if there are any in Kingdom as I really don't want to wait 40 odd days for delivery and to save the ass load of cash for shipping...

I've just been told that my ac system is blowing it's charge out thru the port and they suspect a blockage in the condenser...

I'm not sold on this but after 2 times of it shitting the bed on the new compressor...

Any thoughts? Free ac system you'd like to give me? Anything?

You mean the over pressure vent?

You can tell if there is still some pressure.

If you have 20-30 psi (too low to engage but not enough to run) it will fit in the logic of an obstruction.

With the gauge set on it would be obvious. The key is to test at higher revs not just idle.

If you try to put in 55/250 for example and you get 45/300, definitely blockage.

I'm not sure what the ambient offset is for SA but I'm guessing your low side pressure would be 55-60 vs my 45 in normal human ambient temps.

When you said port I thought at first fill port. I recently had to change the valve in my brother's fill port.

You need to get some dye into your system to remove ambiguity. If it's venting anywhere it will show.

Sorry got it dyed and no leaks found except at the port... a condenser costs as much as a new compressor here (not sure costs in the real world) .

Still no shoes found that I like and may have to go with perrielli

Replace the Schrader valve re vaccum and fill and run with gauges at higher RPM

It would be respectful of others and be nice if this thread got back to only letting others know what we have DONE (competed) to our X5s. It's clearly stated in the thread title that's what this thread is intended. This thread was never intended to be used to solve problems or troubleshoot fixes and until the last couple of years seldom was.

The more that this thread is used as a catch all the more it will be used as such in the future. It also compromises the search function that is very helpful without starting a new thread. Or, the OP, if still alive, could change the title to Dump anything you want here if you don't feel like starting a new thread or just want to chit chat.

I made a thread for that a long time ago.

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...e53-today.html

Not sure why people post question in the what have you DONE (past tense) thread. @bc is entirely correct.

Sounds good.

Is there such thing as a ...

"Not ready for prime time thread for problems you're working on now" yet?

I can see the need for some quick, popular, just yell out a question and see what you get catch-all thread, vs. starting a new thread for a small or uncertain problem. I know search might solve most of that.

At the end of it all, you'll end up with one giant unmanageable thread, like this one, but will not have hundreds of other flameouts. Might be better.

Meh. This is a catch all thread. Don't like it, unsubscribe. That simple.

You're not wrong about it being used for other than it's intended purpose BC... but in the grand scheme of things. Who cares. This forum is barely looked at by moderators (if ever) and we are lucky it's still here at all really. Enjoy it while it is.
