Not sure why some E70s came with them from factory and others didn't. Probably bean counters got involved.

thanks Andrew, I'm wondering if there's a way to calculate the torque spec in ft lbs without 90° or so rotation.
my guess would be 120ft lbs.

What have you done to your E70 today?
Your guess is way off. They break at closer to 95-100.
You actually can tell by feel or especially If you have a torque adapter showing the current torque. When I did the destructive testing after the third or fourth try you could turn the bolt more but the torque number never got higher. When I did the testing I was trying to determine a torque number you could use vs. angle but it's not possible. The friction changes too much each attempt. I did notice that for example it would start to yield about 90 N·m but the amount of angle would vary wildly. Then I would try another time and it would yield much lower torque. You could probably get away with for example 80 N·m but 65+45 would likely get more repeatable clamping force

I was more interested in torque for the lower control arm bolts(not tension struts). thanks!

I was taking about the stiffening plate bolts.
The control arms etc all have torque values. Somebody posted a picture with each bolt and its torque listed

Sent off my DDE, CAS, and key to a service to have my DDE no start condition cleared (Incorrect DEF error).
Word of advice to diesel owners. Don't EVER reset SCR codes. Work through the ISTA test plan to get the truck to clear it on its own. I reset the original SCR efficiency code and it triggered the no start countdown. I'm learning the hard way on how to diag the diesel emissions system. Hopefully you won't have to.

While I wait for my modules to come back I figured I'd finish modding the headlights. Did the driver's side a long time ago but the vehicle has been down so the motivation to do the RHS as been minimal.
![]() ![]() While taking everything apart I'm doing some cleaning while in the wheel wells. I don't know what we are going to do with this thing after it's done. I think we're leaning towards selling it but I think we'd be asking a ludicrous price for it given all the work it's had. Guess I'll drive it around with the FS sign and have it on CL and see what happens.

Got the DDE, CAS, and new key back in the mail. Put everything in and the E70 fired right up. Would really like to know how they cleared the no start error but at this point I'm just happy it starts.
![]() Finished modding the passenger side headlight. Added clear front reflectors and replaced the headlight washer jets and the painted covers. They had broken the nozzle off and taken the covers with them at some point on the road. ![]() ![]() ![]() Still cleaning this thing up too in prep of listing it. It's been sitting so long I think I am going to polish it and ceramic coat it too. Going to try to get stupid money for it (compared to other high mileage e70s) so it better look good as well as drive good.
