My CD (which was named "NAV_SW") has several files and folders (table files, LST files and file folders). You guys think i'm on the right track? I would be going from a V24 straight to V31 on an MKIV. Again just a little timid. |

With a Mode1 CD you must NEVER use it on a Mk3 as it will crash the Mk3 |

Thanks for the encouraging words. I have a 2005 X3 with an MKIV Nav unit, so the MKIII isn't really a concern, but that is good information, thank you. I think i might work up enough gumption to try it out tonight.
There is slightly conflicting "steps" to executing the procedure. One account says to leave the drivers side door open (didn't know if that was car specific or not) when performing the upgrade and another doesn't mention it. I guess it can't really hurt to leave both the rear liftgate and drivers-side door open. |

You don't have to leave the drivers door (or any other) open, just don't turn the ignition off during the update! Don't worry if the display goes blank for 15 seconds or so (just after it displays the message saying it's detected a software disk) either, that's normal.

Thanks guy for the additional encouragement...i guess my timid-ness is evident in my tone/post.

With a Mode1 CD you must NEVER use it on a Mk3 as it will crash the Mk3" HOW CAN I GET v31 in MODE2 ? The software v31 I downloaded is mode1 for mk4 And for mk3 where is the file in mode2? Quote:
