SatNav option gone after v.31 upgrade

HELP!

Aj Caramba...

So, yesterday I downloaded the v.31 SW (9xMB .rar Torrent file) burned it to a CD-R (using Nero at 8x) and put it into my MK4 (Z4 2004)

The "Software Upgrade In Progress" bar came up, finished, the whole thing restarted, came back up, and seemed to work just fine, I checked that the SW version was upgraded, which it was (said 4-1/00 or something like that) and everything looked good, it was all working fine, I even played around with the map DVD, 2008.1 that I downloaded like 3months ago and has worked fine when I had 29.1.
Anyway, today, I drove to work, and the SatNav restarted twice?!
Screen went black, then the BMW logo came up, then the map came back up, then screen went black again, BMW logo came up, then the map came back up but it was now 'frozen' Nothing happened and pressing any buttons had no response...

So, I arrived at work, switched the ignition off, then on again and the screen came back up with a really weird blue looking colour, and in my menu, the "Navigation Option" has now disappeared, I can only select: Television, Computer and Set

I'm now downloading (Torrent) "v.31 with new logo" and I'll c if I can reflash the firmware, I hope that the SatNav will still be "live enough" to still accept boot discs...

I'll also try to go back to v.29.1, any idea where I can get this from?

Failing all this, I'll disconnect the battery for like 30min...

Any other suggestions?

The navigation unit needs a reset: just pull the Navigation/Audio system fuse for some minutes and it should work again.

Thanks!

I actually didn't have to do anything, the car was left (off) for a couple of h and I just went in and started the ignition and it all came back into life...

Thanks for the reply! That would probably be quicker...

I used to have these resets and lock-ups before on v.29.1, but I thought that upgrading to SW v.31 would perhaps sort that, but I guess not, my next guess is that the 2008.1 DVD navigation disc that I'm using (burned) is perhaps defect, I'll re-burn it, perhaps this time on a slower speed and I'll use a better brand and c...

Thanks again!

nowa, sounds like a corrupted OS image, try again using a good quality CD and burning at the slowest rated speed of the disc.

If you still have troube PM me.

BTW, the 2008.1 disc I have actually says 2007-08-09 in the ABSTRACT file, is that because BMW or NAVTEQ is lagging behind or something?

xx.1 is usually released around October. From snapshot to final DVD it takes some time, so this is somehow normal for map data.

...any idea when xx.2 is released? I've heard rumours that the 2008.2 (EU) comes on DL DVDs as it's 5.x GB

Have there really been so many new roads built?
