That will be a Mk1 system.
There is no "activation" required. Software is always installed.
Just insert the suitable map CD for Finland and use it.
The Mk1s have a laborious calibration requirement, and are laboriously slow.

If your friend is a BMW fan, then consider removing the Mk1 and fitting a Mk4, it will be lightening fast in comparision, with many more features.
