LeMansX5,

You've been busy collecting links and pictures :)

There are two things that I like about Verizon getting the iPhone:
1. When the iPhone 5 comes out, I can decide which carrier has the best deal for me. (It might be AT&T because I have the grandfathered in unlimited data plan but I definitely like the personal hotspot.)
2. I work for a large company that has a lot of Verizon Blackberrys and they have been evaluating the iPhone. Maybe my company will switch to the Verizon iPhone or allow that as an option to the Blackberry.

The ATT and VZ cost for a "personal hotspot" is ridiculous. My CFO is moving to one of Sprint's 4G cities and they offer a 4G hotspot like that with unlimited data for something like $60 a month... I think that is a hell of a deal for unlimited 4G, and I'm not going to give up unlimited data and being able to look things up while on the phone for the ability to use my phone in the middle of nowhere. (the only possible advantage I can see in Verizon)

If you Jailbreak you Iphone 4, you can use it as a Hotspot all you want and keep your unlimited Data plan. That's what I did from day one, and have been doing so for months. No need for broadband cards etc.

I've been following this speculation since the VZ announcement and while I hope Sprint gets the iPhone, how could that be the "impossible, made possible" when it was just made not impossible by VZ? :dunno:

You're saying you jail broke your Iphone 4 on Att and used it as a hotspot, correct? I have thought about that but never followed thru. Any issues? do you still get visual voicemail?

Everything functions perfectly. I jailbroke it the day the software came out. There is an App called MyWi that's $20. It allows me to tether and setup my phone as a Hotspot. Works great. I can also use FaceTime anywhere, not just on Wifi.

i think there is no need for a special iphone plan.

not sure if or even when you would be able to buy something like this, but you may see these types of devices starting to pop up.
