Trump will have to lash out about being impeached again. Will be interesting to see if he can find a broad based platform to connect with his followers effectively. I expect there will be some scattered responses by his followers. I don't think they will be organized just here and there. Expecting the worst of his followers will wait for the big inauguration protest. I expect shots will be fired if the protesters are challenged.

Based on worldwide negative responses to his actions, and not having the avenues to retaliate, Trump has likely become far more dangerous. He won't be able to contain his anger. He has to retaliate. I think the last week has pushed him to a place where his goal now is to take 'everyone' down with him. No way to know who he considers everyone but it won't be limited to democrats.

I am very concerned about the inauguration. I can't imagine the security preparations are adequate after the debacle last Wednesday. I don't think anyone planning to try to use a weapon will be that selective of whom they shoot. I think the goal will be to disrupt the proceedings before Biden takes the oath, to delay Biden taking office however possible. Stop the steal seems anti-climatic after Biden takes office. Wonder what would happen if his supporters tried to take over the white house prior or during the inauguration.

Well, if this scenario takes place, that will suck!

Can we just get some peace between these two parties for once! Geez, 4 years of this back and forth. Itís nauseating!

The hypocrisy is at levels I have never seen in my life time. I am soooo... ready for everyone to chill the EF out and relax! Itís already bad enough weíre dealing with Covid-19! Our family members passing away, businesses closing down, social distancing, the damn masks. I am over it! Seriously!

I pray we can finally get some peace in this country, defeat Covid-19, and get back to a decent way of life!

FAWK!

Inserting your religious beliefs into this discussion regarding Donald Trump is interesting and not all that surprising to me. While I may be mistaken, I assume that you are a white Evangelical Christian. Correct me if I am wrong.

FYI, white Evangelical Christian racism became very apparent recently when America elected its first Black president. Much of the white evangelical church and its pastoral leadership, along with many fundamentalist Christians who believe in the literal interpretation of the bible, were consistently unfair in attacking President Barack Obama. The criticism of President Obama was fierce. Many Evangelical Christian churches participated in the racist birtherism movement that sought to delegitimize Americaís first Black president by alleging, without any proof, that he was born in Kenya.

The hypocrisy of much of the white Evangelical Christian church became even more apparent when it wholeheartedly supported President Donald Trump, the purveyor of birtherism and a person who does not exhibit the tenants of Christianity in his behavior. President Trump, on a continual basis, exhibits most ó if not all ó of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth.

Ironically, a major reason why Donald Trump was elected president and has such high approval ratings among Republicans is really quite simple. The core of his base is mostly made up of hypocritical religious white Evangelical Christians (ECís), and individuals who truly believe that immigrants are criminals who are taking jobs away from hard-working Americans. They just want their agendas fulfilled, no matter how it is accomplished or by whom. Now while many of the presidentís evangelical supporters may not be racist, they are willing to back a man who openly attempts to divide people by race. The religious evangelicals will do anything, at any cost, to get their conservative anti-abortion and anti-same-sex marriage agendas fulfilled. They truly do want the U.S. to be an acknowledged as first and foremost a Christian nation where their beliefs are law, negating any separation between church and state. They have believed that their reverential devotion to Trump would result in great advances for their priorities and their policy agenda, with the most important one being nominating very conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. So far, they have been correct.

I question if ECís care what Jesus said and did. Maybe we should just refer to the ECís as Evangelicals for Trump or simply Trumpistas? While I have always understood that white evangelicalism was more often than not on the wrong side of history in the area of race, I have come to believe that the white Evangelical Church is a primary source of Americaís racism. As a child of the church, it is difficult to acknowledge that so much of the church was more invested in white supremacy than the cause of Christ. In 2009, the Southern Baptist Convention issued an apology for its earlier stance on slavery. The issue of slavery had split the Baptist Church between north and south in 1845. Amazingly, it was not until 1995 that Southern Baptist officials formally renounced the churchís support of slavery and segregation. While that was a start, the momentum was lost with the overwhelming evangelical support of white supremacist Donald Trump. There needs to be a much more rigorous examination of the white evangelical churchís role in racism.

I have been truly amazed at the disconnect between Evangelical Christians political activity that contradicts the various biblical mandates and themes they profess to believe in. It is striking to me that the majority of EC's support Trump, regardless of all of Trump's lying, infidelities, multiple marriages, multiple sexual assault and harassment allegations, ugly comments about immigrants, petty and vindictive insults thrown at anyone who dares to criticize him, etc.... Incredibly, none of that matters to them.

Apparently, for most EC's, they prefer Trump over what is best for ALL Americans and subscribe to the old adage: ďthe ends justify the meansÖ.Ē They want their agendas fulfilled and that is all they care about. They feel Trump is accomplishing those goals, and that is why they support him. They are definitely out of touch with the beliefs and desires of the majority of mainstream Americans. As you can probably guess, I do not support any of that.

AVB-

+1.

Happy seems to just want to spar. Bob and weave, and not seriously engage. You attempt at serious discourse seems wasted. You indict ECs and their deep and repugnant hypocrisy and his response is 'dont assume'. As if your excellent post is all wrong because he is (perhaps) a christian but not an evangellical. Whatever

Iíll engage this post. There is no need to spar. bcís post was very dismal IMO. The way I see it after yesterdayís session, and with all that is going on, anything that resembles a peaceful transition and a return to normalcy is all I can ask for.

Your concern for my lack of dialogue with AVB is simple. His assumption regarding my race. This is not information he is entitled to, plus he already knows I am a Christian.

His FYI is simply that. His opinion of information that he thinks I need. An FYI is a statement, and doesnít require a response.

I hope you are just as concerned for peace, and a return to normalcy for the United States Of America. As you are with my post suggesting not to make assumptions.

I don't share the same sort of fear, not because I don't believe incidents will happen, but because I don't plan on being anywhere near them when they do. I fear for the potential violence just as I did with the BLM protests. Those blew over and so will these.

As I said, Trump has likely over played his hand and burned most political and corporate bridges. Without those all he has are his supporters so the writing is on the wall. I predict security will be increased to the point that nothing can really happen in DC. The national guard is resting in the Capitol building already between assignments. Trump's days are numbered.

This part of the forum has devolved once again into picket line style chest beating so I'll take a month or two off and check back in after the new administration is off and running like I did leading up to the election. Very little actual discussion happening currently as the majority of posts are once again us vs them personal attacks. Trump is not the only deplorable politician in Washington, just the most vocal and obvious.

Stay safe all. See you in other parts of the forum.

I agree. There was some information I received yesterday, that reminded me not to get to caught up in the fray.

I think itís best, I tone my rhetoric down as well. Right now itís all about a peaceful transfer of power, and hopefully gaining some type of normalcy.

Best to stay out of harms way, just in case things get crazy.

See you on the other side CW.

A lot of us here doesn't like to confront Trump's action directly. They grudgingly admits that he's bad but they fall short of condemning him for all the serious crimes he has committed.

I don't understand the logic and I think if it's explained to me I would be shocked and find it completely unacceptable.

Some members here think it's about hatred for this particular individual. Which I find odd as well.

His crimes against this country alone is reason enough to denounce him.

I sometimes feel we're the ones being prosecuted for denouncing his criminal behavior towards our country.

But I suppose when you hold on to him to represent your beliefs, you ultimate suffer the consequences.

I think the biggest consequence is having elected him and allowed him to do all these damages to our country.

People continue to make comparisions between this riot past week to the riots during the BLM movement.

All riots are bad, there's no denying that. And not all protests are good. Some are damaging to our country, some actually leads our country to a better path and allow our country to heal and improve.

Which movement you believe in will ultimately make a difference in the direction this country take.

America has always been a country that allows for multiple religions, races, beliefs, and ways of life.

I think this is the main reason it has been able to prosper through all the societal and cultural changes for the past 70 + years, and remains on top of this world in terms of global power and influence.

To shrink down to its core of white protestants and the like is to stripe all the varieties, the vibrant energies from all people of all creed, and the innovations that keeps this country great.

Trump does not allow that.

He is a white supremacist. And that by definition limits our ability to become all that we can be.
