finally got a bit of info about my order from the dealer today, including a VIN - punched it into that URL and get the following:




curious though, cos the dealer told me the vehicle wasn't built until 1st or 2nd week march

they told me it should come into port of brisbane on the 28th of this month, delivery should be 1st or 2nd week of april

Put in an order for the style 239 wheels too (21") - it was interesting cos they gave me a price of $7500, but had already emailed me a price of $5500 (both prices including trade back of style 214's already on my order). When I raised that point, the guy just said "oh yeah $5500 will be ok"

I have a alpine white sd (20" alloys, comfort seats, panorama roof, hi fi upgrade) on the same ship, delivery anticipated early April on the Sunshine Coast

is you blokes info showing similar loading/received dates as mine? if so how do they compare to what your dealer told you with regard the build date?

To be absolutely honest I haven't been following it that closely. I sold my E53 V8 in January and have a loaner since (320i Touring) but I believe delivery was always going to be late March/early April. It went on the ship at Savannah, Georgia in late Feb.

I have my Australian X5 Executive last June one of the first, a great vehicle it's my second X5 3i. I have no complains at all. I have some options (paid 120k) best of all is the headup display I can't believe that I ever have to drive without. it's a great safety item as my eyes always look up and not down any more on the clock. Ok, while all the threads in here are informative and have some great pictures I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to Australian owners of the new X5 since specifications and some issues can vary from country to country.

With people just starting to take delivery of their cars this week, they're probably too busy enjoying this awesome vehicle to post just yet. But anyway...

How many Australian owners out there have taken delivery and what vehicle specification do you have?

We have just traded in our Mercedes E320 and our car docks on the 6th of May so we should be taking deliver by the 20th at the latest...hopefully. It's a 3.0D Executive Sports in Space Grey with the Camel Interior and Dark Burl Wood trim. I can hardly wait.

While we were looking to order a custom vehicle, the waiting time and great deal we got on this dealer specced vehicle arving in less than a month prompted us to seal the deal. 2 compromises were made however. The car we are getting does not have the comfort seats or the Hi Fi 12 system. Instead it has the 7 seat option (which isn't bad since we were going to order the rear air suspension anyway) and the DVD entertainment system.

My main concerns/questions:
1. How bad/ok is the standard sound system on Australian vehicles? 6 speakers seems very substandard on a vehicle of this price. I've heard though it may be 6 speakers and 2 subs. Can anyone confirm?

2. Does anyone have the rear entertainment system? Is it capable of playing the cars T.V input while on the move?

3. What is the latest I-drive version that I should be making sure the dealer uploads before delivery?

4. Has anyone in the past gotten BMW's leather and paint protection and is it worth it?

I hope as we start getting our vehicles we can all contribute and make this an informative thread.

got a call back from the dealer today about the style 239 wheels and tyres - I'd told them on saturday to go ahead and order them pending some info on tyres. at the time they'd said I could pick from several brands so I asked for a list of them so I could get some advice. they called back today to correct that info - only the dunlops are available, which suits me because they seemed to get a good rap in that 'noise noise noise' thread, so I put down a deposit

so the tyres are going to be dunlop sp sport maxx
front: 285/35 21
rear: 325/30 21
