yep ..thanks again

I suspect holding the lemon until June / July is not a likely scenario ... would be good to wait for latest and greatest - but I suspect that real world experience wont be that different with slight kw improvement and 8 speed box ..especially given that prices for the base are likely to go up 10% I reckon - and they'll be no dealer incentives to move them ..so I could end up spending a lot more (e.g. $15-25k more) for incremental improvements .... which I don't think would be worth it ..rather hold out for 2012/13 model assuming interest rate increases don't kill me first ...

I had to commit before year-end to get the invesyment allowance benefit. Before year-end, the dealer claimed they had no details on the 2011 model and so couldn't confirm pricing and a firm order - so I had to go with the 2010 model.
For the 3d I'm not sure there is much difference between the 2010 and 2011 models - 8 speed transmission +?
I hope you are not leasing the vehicle, because if so, your lease should have been signed up before end of last yr to qualify for the allowance. If not leasing, then not an issue.

You know my gut feel tells me the price will stay largely the same. Why? Because there is already a reduction in stamp duty thus all new imported cars should be cheaper. Therfore I would think the reduced stamp duty will help BMW maintain the price, and still have their profit margin. Lets see how it pans out....

30d will replace the 30i as the price leader. 35i next up and a significant jump from the 30i, the model it replaces. 40d will be more expensive than 35d as will the 50i be over the 48i.

As before, the 30d will continue to be the volume seller and that will go up the least.

Stamp duty was also taken off 4X4

so no relief there in price. I was told by dealership that prices are going up across the board ..BMW have held prices pretty level for last few years ..so when economy picks up they will be looking to drive volume and margin ... luckily the competitive landscape means they're be some pressure to be competitive on price - but I sense the days of getting a new 35d with reasonable options for $105k drive way are gone I reckon the 40d will go up by 10% - 15%, as will 30i when it grows up to be 35i, same with 4.8 to 50i. The base 30d will likely only move up 5-10% as the volume seller ... will be interesting ..should make getting hold of 2010 between April-May a good deal before 2011's land in June / July ...
