I ended up loosening the mechanism, sometimes I guess it's nice to have small hands. Wife was nowhere to be seen dOh!

A few little things the past few days while I'm waiting on the sunroof kit still.

- looking at this oil leak..
- various cleaning / detail cleaning, as always everything needs cleaned
- hooked up to ISTA for initial diag scan, looks good .. or at least cleared recently

- new rear emblem, original one was quite chipped
- new shift boot, original was torn
- new 6 SPD dark wood knob, the original one the tab was broken off up inside, so it would spin around .. undrivable. Hard to find these anymore, quite expensive, but worth it, symbolically it makes the car mine.
- replaced parking brake boot, original one was torn
- replaced drivers side seat belt, tensioner wasn't working right, annoying like the shift knob
- added missing door lock pin grommets on three doors, huge difference
- added missing srs airbag emblem on passenger door card

- replaced sunroof seal around roof
- replaced rear sunroof glass seal
- tested and cleared sunroof drains, the front right one was clogged and leaking into the glove box. Fixed with some weed wacker wire, compressed air, and the garden hose. Very glad I tried it while apart

- finished sourcing all upper interior pieces in black, to match the lower trim. No sport pkg unfortunately, basically retrofitting it. it had the white headliner and pillars. A b and c pillars, sun visors, sun visor attachment things, sun visor lights, rear reading lights, four grab handles, four those square hook things, overhead console all in black. I'm also stoked that the black overhead console has the sunglass holder. The stock one it was just a dumb white piece of plastic instead. Nice

Dug up a small brush to clean the wheels. Brake dust did came off. Unfortunately, the wheels are slightly pitted. It will take several several cleanings to really get deep into the pits. Maybe this summer, I'll take them off for a real deep soak and clean.

When I had bare aluminum wheels on my motorcycle I could only clean them with a phosphoric acid based cleaner.

I lost my finger prints from the rinse water so it's pretty crazy strong. If they still sell it you can prob use to clean the pits but spray with some clear coat or it'll tarnish very quickly

New battery. Old battery 4 years old and starting to show its age.

I thought I would quickly swap over a new lower front control arm and anti roll bar link. Took an eternity to get the link off with much harsh language as the nuts were all rusty.
Was trying to free the taper of the control arm when the heavens opened so I gave up and went and drank beer. Car is waiting on the drive until tomorrow now.. Chuffing weather.

All of my brake cleaner inventory kept being used up. The intake kept showing signs of oil residue. Using some high temp RTV, I sealed it. Seems the intake is starting to show signs of age. So far, no more oil residue running down the intake runners.

Next time the intake comes off, it will be upgraded. Which performance intake fits? Plus upgrade the valve cover to aluminum.

I would recommend replacing that intake as soon as reasonable.

As for alum valve cover...I would opt for M56 alum valve cover with built in CCV and not the Chinese-made replicas of the stock valve cover.

If you go M56, be sure to buy it with gaskets...which last longer. And you may want to replace the built in CCV diaphragm and cap...

Your newer model pencil-style coils and coil wiring will drop right in.

The seal was probably a little excessive. After several brake cleaner wipes, it was a small area that was allowing air/oil residue to escape. Not enough to set off engine codes. Since I had a big tube of RTV, I went down the entire seam. Yea, I will replace it. Dang, after all the coolant refresh its a little upsetting. It could have been replaced. I guess moving it around and cleaning it was a little too much.

I'll have to dig up info on the aluminum valve cover. Mine has a new CCV system. Can it be incorporated?
