I haven't been able to figure out rhyme or reason on which models have clear/red. Mine is clear BTW. 05' 4.4

CW was yours originally Canadian?

That's what I thought, US had clear and CAN had red. Got a friend with 4.8is imported from Canada and he has red 3rd brake lights as well.

Not that I know of. I am the third owner I believe and the original had the truck in Utah according to the CarFax (and the Sports Authority receipt I found under the rear bench seat). :dunno:

Was thinking maybe the imola red trucks got red. But I googled it... and it doesn't appear there is any rhyme or reason as to which trucks got what. :dunno:

Mine has the white brake light as well. 08/04 build.

^Congrats. 6 figures is just broken in for these. LOL it also marks the start of a lot of upcoming maintenance if it hasn't been addressed already. Belts, idler pulley, tensioners, water pump, thermostat, cooling system, suspension, VSS, VCG, etc, etc... :)

In typical late night update... I just finished working blacking out the "X5" badge. I wish I had more time to work on this truck than 11PM-1AM every night. :yawn: Man do I wish someone made black badges, but even if they did I'd have to do it this way so that the DINAN badge would match. I'm not looking forward to doing that badge. :(

Tomorrow I go to pick up 6 liters of ZF Lifeguard 6 and a mechatronic sleeve that I scored for $70 local on CL from someone who I guess sold a newer 3 or 5 series. Also need to get it inspected as my registration expired Dec 31st. Gotta give "the man" his annual slice of my vehicle maintenance expenses.

I bought a blacked out x5 badge on eBay. It's holding up really well.
But yeah, you'd have to do the dinan one.
I haven't seen blacked out 4.8 ones either.

mine is 'blacked out' by being GONE and i have a black X5. I'd not have de-badged myself but i bought mine w/o side or rear badges and i'm hooked i will remove badges from any future car (my car is also de-chromed; the grill inserts are matte-black and awesome).
