Did you also delete the resonator with a X pipe or leave that stock? We need sounds clips!

I can try to shoot a vid and upload it. Resonator is still in place, not looking for much more loudness at this point, I'd probably rather have a Shark Injector flash to compliment the exhaust and the intake as opposed to having resonator deleted.

Today was arrival and change to a K&N drop-in filter. If you've been following, I removed the AFE this past weekend- mostly out of sheer boredom from lack of something to do. I'd used it for about 3.5 years.

The OE filter that was in the stock intake was the same one in the car when I picked it up with 11k miles on it. It was clean and stored indoors for the past few years. I wrote about this weekend's change in this thread.

I looked around online and found folks with E60 545's and E65 7's that had varying reports of both the AFE and the K&N drop in. My interest piqued, I ordered up the right one from our old friends at JC Whitney.

I noticed right away that the 4.8is was WAY more responsive on throttle with the K&N than the OE. I dare say it reminded me of the change to AFE way back when. It is slightly louder than the OE intake, not as loud as the AFE. So, I'll run this for awhile and see where it gets us. Part of the sales pitch from K&N is that it's a 'lifetime filter.' I am not so sure about that. I can see myself making this an annual/18 month swap. At $43, it's not so bad, and it can't be bad to have a new filter.

But I'm ahead of myself. So far, I like the K&N better than OE and I am warming up to it as my intake of choice.

Today, I futzed around adjusting the replacement Navigation screen. This takes just as long as a simple replacement process, bc access to the tiny adjustment scews requires access behind all the covers and ribbon cables and all of that.

Anyway, after dinking with it long enough that I began to consider just buying a new one, I have it as good as I think it'll be. Nice contrast, better in direct light than before, and no blotted, missing sections.

It'll do until I find ~$1500 sitting around for a whole new unit.

Continue working on the rear suspension refresh after coming back from a 6-wks vacation.
Hope everyone is doing well.

I run a K&N on my X too. Recently I took off the Throttle body and cleaned it and at that time cleaned the K&N with the re charger kit. I couldn't believe the crap that came out of there. Anyway, you could try the re charge kit instead of buying a new one if you decide to keep the K&N.

After cleaning my TB, air filter, and adding some FI cleaner, my X seem to idle a little smoother:)
