After cleaning my TB, air filter, and adding some FI cleaner, my X seem to idle a little smoother:)

I purchased the Dinan cold air box shortly after I bought mine new. It came with a K&N filter. I have driven 112,000 miles. I use the recharger kit once every 5000 miles (Texas is dusty) and replace it after 2-3 cleanings depending on when the new color is not restored by the recharging kit.

Not a fan of K&N filters in dusty conditions, they allow particles >100 microns into the engine. Short of injesting huge chunks of gravel/sand, particles around 80 microns cause the worst piston/ring/cylinder/valve seat & guide wear.

I'm still running Genuine BMW sourced air filters, if I go aftermarket it will be ITG oiled foam.

Went for a drive today to see the leaf colors. Saw a few bald eagles and as a bonus found some good go juice.

This was at a corp shell station with the non Oxy pump off near the bushes. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...53d3f67a07.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...69253d415b.jpg

Installed new shifter carrier bushings. Man its a huge difference. I highly recommend replacing all the bushings when installing a SSK.

Nice find! Where abouts in MN were you? I grew up on the shores of lake Minnewashta.

FWIW, I drove the X5 back to Vegas from Green Valley, AZ yesterday. Tripped over 92k miles while traveling at a nice clip. Four adults plus the Thule Terrapin. We were loaded up a bit.

admranger,
That is Lake Pepin (Lake Pepin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) just south of Redwing area. Apparently Lake Pepin is the birthplace of water skiing. We live closer to Mpls but were out for the drive.

How long have you owned the Thule Terrapin, any noise, rattles. from it? I have a Thule roof box but I'm not too keen on the wind noise, although it is not too much considering the size. Have not tried it yet on the X so no idea on gas either.

Anyone interested in Non-Oxy gas I just found this site:

Rhode Island based, Mobile Headlight Restoration Specialist, Auto Eye Care (contact info below) took care of my E53 this weekend

It not only looks new, but I can actually see way better at night (sealed and guaranteed for 1 year).

Highly recommended for all you New Englanders!

just some little repairs.. like new alternator, new battery , new idle pulley and new water pump.
Engine is super quiet now and pickup and acceleration is better.

Sure wish I could buy side marker gaskets separate from the markers. Is there a part number? Anyone? Bueller?
