I know mine is not an X5M but I had the same "Engine Malfunction-Reduced Engine Power" pop up as I was driving my 2011 X5 xDrive50i M Sport Package home from the dealership, the night I took delivery (11/4/10) with under 10 miles on it! I saw a loose vacuum hose under the passenger side intake tubing. I took it back today and the sales manager got service to take my X5 right away and he gave me a 2011 X5 35i M Sport to drive while mine was being repaired. They called me this afternoon and said it was just the hose and there were no other issues or open recalls. Hopefully, it doesn't come back. We'll see...

It seems like BMW quality control is out of the window, they still want us to pay the premium but the product no longer warrants the price tag. |

The S3 X5 M engine is a variant of the N63 used in the 50i, there are many common components and hence could well be common inherent faults. |

They didn't give me any paperwork or tell me any specific codes. Maybe when I stop back to get my black grille's and M roof rails I'll ask for a printout of the service.

I would get as much detail as possible as the engine fault warning can come up for all sorts of things, in case you get it again you need to know if its the same fault.

Well, made it all of 300 miles since picking it back up and the warnings are back and becoming more frequent. Will be calling BMW assist and having it flatbead'd back to the dealer tomorrow. This is the 3rd in 5 weeks. Has been in the shop all of 4 full business weeks. I am going to be talking to my CA tomorrow and am asking for a conversation with BMWNA. This is my 4th BMW. I am very loyal, but will not be taking this vehicle back.

Sorry to hear you've still got problems, it seems BMW just pull things apart, change hoses and parts and then *hope* the fault has gone then let the customer test it, this is a disgusting way to operate, they need to properly diagnose the engine fault and find the exact issue.
Mine is still in the garage, no progress at all, its been there a week now parked up |

Just got off phone with BMWNA. Apparently, a new memorandum is being issued this or next week to BMW dealers about HPFP issues. Could not get the rep to directly specify that the X5 and X5M vehicles with twin turbos are directly effected. Have left a message with my dealer. I am very irritated and frustrated at this point. My vehicle had a MSRP of 102,000. Now in shop for over a month. Combined with poor design of rear fenders and chipping paint, I am starting to regret this purchase.
If BMW is reading this, I am very open to talking to someone about this issue. I am not looking to leave BMW, but with no open idea of what is occuring, and continuing guess work, I am running out of patience very quickly. J |

The MSRP on the car including our VAT is the equivalent of US $133000 at todays exchange rate over here! Mine has now just about been 2 weeks on road and 3 weeks off from brand new. I have put my case forward for a replacement car, it seems like they are all hiding now, no one wants to talk, heads in the sand hoping it will go away. They have now motorcycle couried the parts from Germany to the UK, in a panic effort to try and fix it, I emailed the dealer and BMW UK today, no response, left voicemail to BMW UK, no response, its a disgrace on a car costing this much. Edit: BMW UK have emailed me back but are blatently ignoring my request for a replacement vehicle and assuming that I will take this one back after they've *fixed* it.
