Durst are in the process of designing/manufacturing a power supply/battery charger specifically for programming and automotive use. It is a few weeks away and sounds top notch, unfortunately I'd say it will cost somewhere between AUD$1000-1500.

Here is another interesting looking product, although I think it is a bit low on AMPS.

15 amp is merely enough, 20 - 25 amp will be better.

When I first got the GT1, I mistakenly thought that to update the settings I had to do this.
I think that you may be having the same problem that I had with the config settings.
All your problems sound familiar to me. I will try and recap how I resolved when I have some time. Too much going on at the moment.

Hey Riaz ... long time since I've been on the forum. Can you write-up or comment what to check when using SSS with the yellow diagnostic head. Someone else is having a similar problem.

Something about the head is recognized but SSS still doesn't work properly or cannot continue because it can't find the diags head (even though it displays on-screen as available?

I still have not installed and/or used SSS so I have zero actual experience with SSS.

- Jose

Can anyone confirm that 14.6V will be ok? I have bought a 70amp unit but have the option of choosing my voltage. The Deutronic unit is 14.2V @ 45 amps.

GT1 Question For WEASEL

Weasel,
With lots of help from Jose and I mean lots of help I was able to get my GT-1 going.
I have a couple of question and hopefully you will have the answers.

I ran DIS on my 2006 X5 and got a TCU Telematic Control Unit failure.
Diagnosis bus error unknown control module variant.
Fault Number 200.102

I ran the “Coding/Program” portion of the DIS Program Car Memory and received the following:
A fault occurred during determination in the Control Unit TCU
Measures: Recode Control Unit TCU. If the coding index is not correct – Update ZCS/FA

I would assume you can recode the TCU under the programming section of the Coding Program?
I didn’t go any further then to read out the error code at this time.

Ron

Sounds like you are using the older version of DIS/GT1 software, (v43) which works great and all, but is a few years outdated. If the TCU was replaced recently it has much newer software than the GT1 which is why it says "unknown module variant". If you switch to the GT1 v55 or v56 it should do better with communicating with the TCU.

And I wouldn't try programming the TCU with the older software, you would need the latest progman software as that is probably what they used at the dealer.

Weasel,
Yes I was using V-43.
I have Progman SSS version 32.0.0 dated 2/13/09 which has SSS Base XPE 3.1.0 dated 9/16/09.
This program was on the HD that I received from Yoho when I purchased the GT1 back in June.
I have not been able to get this program (SSS) to run on my T-30 using Yoho HD or on my laptop using either the VMware player or work station.
The T-30 sees the head but displays a question mark over the head. The Vmware programs don’t show it at all.
The DIS (V-55) portion of the program works great on both computers.
Jose was saying that Riaz may have a solution for the Vmware SSS configuration.

Anyway the question I have is what will happen if I remove the TCU module from the system?
I have no use for a Bluetooth, matter of fact I seldom even use a phone in the car at all.
If the quick test doesn’t see it, will it continue on its merry way and allow parameter changes or does it have to be removed from the computer software list?
At present it will not allow me to do any coding changes until TCU problem is corrected.

It would need to be removed from the software list, otherwise the vehicle will have communication faults for it.

I guess what would help you the most would be getting the progman (SSS) up and running then you can go from there.

Praying that I will have more time in week or so and get this done.
I haven't played with SSS much since I got it working.

I will be buying the OPS head soon.
